1. Fill 8% saver by Feb 12, max balance increases £300 per month so need to reach the max as soon as possible and then just put the monthly max in. £3600
2. Pay a little extra to Mildred (or whatever it gets called) until end of Mar 12 when transfer over the 8% savings balance and pay off in full. Means i need to pay £1800 between now and then.
3. Over pay mortgage, build up until paying extra £500 pm which is max payment without penalty.
4. When paying max on mortgage and max on 8% saver, then start ISA/ savings account. Aim is to have £2k towards legal fees for moving and £9k in emergency savings in case either myself or Mr LT lose our jobs.
Wow LT - nice plan!!! I bet once you're debt free your savings will build up quickly considering how much bebt you're used to busting every month! I'd love to have even just 1 month's wage in savings - £9k would be a lovely little buffer :T0 -
La E i'd also like even just one week's savings but i'm aiming for 3 months joint gross between OH and myself. I keep forgetting though that we'll need less per month once i've paid back my debt so any savings will last longer if necessary.
At the moment my budget aims to pay just under £1k per month on debt and overpaying the mortgage, i don't always achieve it but it's my aim anyway.0 -
Hi!!!
Thanks for keeping me company on my diary since I've been back
I am half way through catching up with your journey! you are doing really well

you're welcome Miaow.
The porch is a tale, we need another new roof as this one was put on with the slope going in the wrong direction, at least it rained before we'd paid anything. They've still got to plaster the inside, but it appears that the store cupboard ceiling wasn't included which i wasn't aware of and i'm not too happy about.
Tis my parents wedding anniversary today so we've been over there, we bought some plants to put in some tubs that they have as a gift, and we've hidden some bulbs underneath for flowers in spring.
I've been making a few cards today, one anniversary card last night and 4 birthday cards today. I was really struggling for some inspiration probably because i haven't made an cards for ages.0 -

How about M&D being Miserable Doris and Capital One being Captain 'Orrible
Sorry to hear about the bunny. They do become part of the family dont they? I love your plan and motivation. I have never thought of giving my card a name. I also just cleared Norty Norbert on Friday! Onwards with the lance towards the next target. Will think of a name see if it helps. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. good ideas for names folk. Only one i couldn't use is Doris as that was the name of one of my Nan's.
Torn between Mildred or Myrtle i think i'll have to flip a coin.
Cheri sounds like Norbert got a fair bit of extra dosh last week with people paying things off.0
