i know all about skint this month what with the porch and Norbert, but had some temporary good news at work yesterday which will help a bit for a few months so fingers crossed i'll step back from the skint cliff top slightly after the next pay day.
Only thing is it's weeks and weeks until the next pay day.

Still awaiting the official death certificate for Norbert but they've definitely taken the money so he's a gonner.

still considering a name for the bank of M&D final loan
  • All good things there

Grand you've had good news at work, the job I've mentioned elsewhere is the one I didn't get last year - fingers crossed eh? Not counting chickens till well and truely in the bag

Are you thinking of a nice name for the M&D loan?

    Matilda?

I've got to give my card a name, I fight them harder when they have a name :)

i was thinking about something along the line of maddening mildred or something. I'm like you, i find it easier if you give them a name plus i find it easier to talk about it on here with a name rather than the details of the bank etc.
which card do you want named? maybe we can come up with something.

been playing with my spread sheets since i got home to work out my plan of action:

Assumption: i'll earning a little extra per month until Mar (hopefully that's a conservative estimate and it will actually go on for longer)

    1. Fill 8% saver by Feb 12, max balance increases £300 per month so need to reach the max as soon as possible and then just put the monthly max in. £3600
    2. Pay a little extra to Mildred (or whatever it gets called) until end of Mar 12 when transfer over the 8% savings balance and pay off in full. Means i need to pay £1800 between now and then.
    3. Over pay mortgage, build up until paying extra £500 pm which is max payment without penalty.
    4. When paying max on mortgage and max on 8% saver, then start ISA/ savings account. Aim is to have £2k towards legal fees for moving and £9k in emergency savings in case either myself or Mr LT lose our jobs.

that should keep me on the straight and narrow and out of trouble for a few years yet, but this plan does mean i should be debt free March 2012 :) which will also mean that that summer we can look for a house and increase our mortgage.
