not been a very happy LT over the last day or so, work has completely gotten to me, my workloads are just too high and i don't know how i am going to be able to get everything done within the deadlines, so had a mini meltdown and almost crumpled into tears but held back.
added to that there's yet more problems with the moving house thing so we still don't know if we're moving, and if it all happens at the last minute i doubt we'll be able to get the removals company to do the work, so that's all piling up on me at the moment.
argh! any one want to swap lives for a little while?
i did lose another 2lb which is a minor miracle as my usual response to stress is to eat.

Hope everyone else is good though.

Oh sweetpea - poor you - how hard you work and cos you do they pile it on you more.

Someone will move you - you might even end up with a better price - so dont' frett too much about that (which I know is easier said than done) the house is being a bit pesky isnt it

    As for losing 2lb

I know how hard you're trying for that and I want to tell you how utterly brilliant that is.

Work is work, bah make a list, snarl at folk a bit more, stick out your elbows and try not to let it get to you - they can't break you - you're too strong.

House will sort itself - I know its one of hte most stressful things you can ever do - don't let go of that focus - xxx

    And yippee to the weight

Have some of my low fat beans on toast in celebration! Both were whoopsied!

    Ok LT and breathe

Congratualtions on the 2lb weight loss that is great:j

I really do know where you are coming from on the work front. Having just returned to work (mornings only) after a stay in hospital and 6 weeks off.

The problem I think a lot of us have is not learning to say NO I'm sorry but I just cannot take on anymore, or I'm sorry that deadline is not feasable. It is made more difficult when there have been redundancies and workloads have increased.:o

A friend has recently put things into context for me, it will probably sound harsh but was said in love.

They said the work will still be there even if you are not , and if you died tomorrow the company will send cheap flowers to your funeral and as time passes not everyone would remember your name.:(

As for the move, wait and see what happens, removal firms are used to having customers where everything is lastminute.com so you wont be the first and I'm sure you wont be the last.

Hope the things will get better as we are nearly at the end of the week.

    Take care and ((((((BIG HUGS))))))

This is so true. Where I work there was two of us pregnant at the same time. The other girl refused to do anything and had a 15min break every 2 hours even if we were really busy. I worked my butt off and never complained even when some days I would get home completely exhausted and just go straight to bed. When she left early on the sick before her mat leave one of the staff organised a whip around and bought her flowers, a mothercare voucher and a card which was signed by everyone "cos she had found it so hard" when I left on mat leave I got nothing til 6 weeks after the baby was born and then I got an asda voucher and a card saying " congratulations from everyone at ******* " written by one member of staff. It was the final straw for me and I intend not to go back there if I can help it.

Moral of the (very long) story is don't just suffer quietly. They'll just expect you to get on with it and more and no one will actually appreciate what you do.

Very true, horrid for you though Starnac.

My half pint's worth: If nothing is said about the workload being too heavy, nobody has the chance to help put it right. Even the best employers are not mind readers.

    Take care LT

    hi LT, just nipping through...

    *lobs a ryvita*

Some good advice on here...my tuppence worth is (as others have said) sit with your manager and take a long hard look at your to do list. Prioritise with REALISTIC deadlines, and remember that it's up to your manager to sort out the excess - you aren't responsible for the understaffing (or whatever) of your area.

If other things creep towards your 'to do' list along the way (and they will) then you simply point out that you can do the new task, but either it won't be until [Christmas 2034], or if it needs doing urgently, then you need to be told (in writing) what other piece of work gets dropped so you can take on the new task. The point being that you aren't saying 'no' to anything, but you are looking to ensure that deadlines and quality don't come a cropper due to all the pressure.

And if none of that is any use, then take a deep breath, and another, and smile - big cheesie one please....bigger...atta girl...and repeat after me - "this too shall pass". The smile tricks your brain into thinking it's happy (plus it creeps out everyone around you - which may also help stop some of the work creeping towards you..), and the phrase is a useful reminder that for every peak in activity, there is a corresponding dip...

thank you all so much you are really wonderful, supporting people. I've had a day off today for my adventure to Luton which went well. I had a contretemps with the sat nav lady who appears to have a love affair with the M1 but we sorted it out, and i as the driver won!

i've been having some chats with my manager but the response sometimes feels like a shrug of the shoulders and a what do you expect look. I can only do what i can do and not much more.

Glad your trip to Luton went ok LT. You've at least had a word with your manager, keep the communication up with regular 1-2-1's and it may just sink in that either process/timelines need to change or getting an extra pair of hands to help you.

I've just managed to upset SS, feeling a little guilty about it. Full story is on my thread. Have a read if you fancy a giggle LT :D.
