maybe you'll have to send your storage heater man in this direction when the doors/windows are in and we've done some saving.

You should have been dropping hints for a scarf for Christmas.

you're so lucky to have that time off. I don't mind working christmas until i actually get to the days and think that i don't want to go in.

Urgh - I hate that feeling! Mine's quite long at the moment and even tied back it's long enough to keep my neck cosy! Mind you it does desparately need a cut so maybe in the New Year...!

mine was really long until i went to the hairdressers whilst angry about 6 months ago, told her to chop it all off (well not quite but 8 - 10 inches worth). I'm glad i did it but it doesn't help with the using up shampoo and conditioner challenge :)

I've been thinking about my challenges for the year ahead, i don't do new years resolutions as i never stick to them. So thought i would finally put them into writing so i can't back track on them.

    In no particular order:
    1. Do the best i can to keep my job.
    2. Pay for new double glazing in cash (need one i know i can achieve :) )
    3. Pay off Northern Rock loan aka Norty Norbert
    4. Lose 3 stone at least
    5. Grow, nurture, and harvest at least 5 crops from our allotment
    6. walk up to the allotment each evening during summer to water plants.
    7. attend my local crop and NOT feel guilty about going
    8. Spend more time with my Dad. He's not the mae west and we haven't known for sometime how long we have with him.
    9. Donate blood again regularly unless advised not to.
    10. have one evening per week without the lap top being turned on and spent time with OH.

sounds like loads but i've at least given myself some things i know i can achieve which is always the best way.

Line in the sand time: Norty Norbert
£6135.29 Current balance on Norty Norbert

£2582.54 Current savings towards Norty Norbert
(£2100) being used for double glazing

£482.54 Savings left towards Norty Norbert

£5652.75 Starting Balance of Norty Norbert

To pay this off by the end of the year i need to pay a minimum of £471.06 per month. The normal payments are £322.91 per month so that means i have to save a minimum of £148.15 extra each month. This is entirely doable as i've been saving a minimum of £200 per month in the past year.

Sorry to have bored you all. Welcome to the roller coaster!!!!!
  • A great set of challenges there LTG - you've shamed me on one of those as for the past couple of years OH and I have been having a "no TV" night on a Tuesday - but recently we've really slipped back into the habit of just turning it on. So, from the new year, that will be reinstated.

that's dedication! i'm not sure my OH would go for a no TV night. I'd love it, i could read my books in peace.

oh had thought of another one but forgot whilst doing the NN maths
