How on earth can you do that when the forms asks for what you can't do?
The form is trying to establish what difficulties you have. What a lot of people do is give the worst possible scenario and say that it is ALWAYS like that!
Try to look at your disabilities with a positive mind. See what you can do, then tell them what is left that despite trying you still have difficulties.
It's not a want - it's need. I need DLA to help me pay for the extra costs I have. In just 3 days, I've spent over £200 on disability related things. For me, that's more than one weeks' wages.
Many people also have to pay out for disabilities £100's maybe £1000's but that doesn't make it right that you expect the state to pay for it whilst others have to find the money out of income or savings. What is fair in that?
Why don't you just take out 5 mins and really think about others that are worse than you.
Now who do you think deserves the help them or you?0 -
A more positive outlook on life? I think that the criteria for mental health claimants should be tightened so that no one but the most severely mentally ill could enter the support group for ESA.
At last we agree on something. I just knew that you would see it my way in the end.
Oh sorry oldestrocker, aren't you mentally ill and trying to get into the support group for ESA so that you can get benefits for life and not work? My apologies!
errr Noooo! I do have a problem being around people but that has nothing to do with my ESA claim. I have many physical conditions that have led to the ESA claim.
To be honest, I have never told the DWP about my mental health problem either on the ESA50 or in the assessment. The two are not connected!
Hey, i'm glad we can agree on some things. You know, I think we are on the same wavelength when it comes to sorting out the toerags that claim benefits.
How's the weather up there?0 -
Yet, due to his age, he's entitled to pension credit. Makes no sense at all - either apply for pension credit and have no hassle or claim ESA and have to appeal to get it. I know which one I'd pick!
Maybe because you will just accept things for a simpler quieter life. I won't - I've had to fight for everything in my life so this is no different.
Moreover, PC is a means tested benefit and the ESA that I am claiming is a contribution one.
I would not get PC for two reasons:
1. Our income is greater than the amount allowed - more than £202.40pw
2. Our capital would reduce any benefit to nil anyhow.
So I don't have a choice do I?
But having said that, even if I could claim PC, it would feel like that I am giving up on an argument as to who is right or wrong - me or the DWP. That is why I am looking forward to my day in court.0 -

And working conditions in past days in this country have always been poor in comparison with the rest of Europe.
Britain is just paying back money to the people who made this country with blood and tears.
Ahhh so you think that claiming benefits has nothing to do with disabilities but more to do with getting back what your ancestors paid in!!
I presume then that on that basis those that haven't worked a day in their lives shouldn't get anything in return. I agree I agree I agree!!!!
Typical UK benefit claimant! What can I have and when can I have it!!!0 -

You obviously don't know much on the subject other than YOU and your narrow minded views.
With chronic pain and all the will in the world the above will only get you so far. Chronic pain is a fault in the neurological system that's keeps sending pain signals when it shouldn't.
Now you can do things to help distraction techniques etc but they will only help for a while and will most certainly not stop severe chronic pain. And ppl have different thresholds for pain and this doesn't mean that there necessary not trying.0 -

Hopefully should start getting more help next year as long as i can get my mood stable. I hopefully won't be on benefits once the major changes come in.
I was thinking only people who are under the care of a psychiatrist, who have previously been hospitalised and are still undergoing outpatient treatment or are on copious medications/therapies through another channel, or who pose a real risk to themselves or others.0
