Must admit, we are in the process of moving to North Essex. I guess Chafford is one of those areas that is good for getting yourself on the property ladder. Your comments are unfair about high crime and property value though. I think this is the kind of area the OP will be looking at for that price range.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Plenty to consider here. On intial glance Milton Keynes appears to be a place where you get a lot for your money. Does anyone have any experience with the area?
Obviously I wouldnt want to move to a place where crime is high etc etc as I would rather simply just move further out. I know its going to be difficult meeting my criteria and of course I would be willing to compromise on the size slightly but safety and good prospects e.g good schools etc are key.0 -
Harrow has some good schools, need to look at the catchment areas. Although Ealing is a more expensive borough to buy in, I would say the schools there are not as good, except the private ones of course.0

I live in Caterham and there are loads of 4 bed houses in the area and surrounding, like Old coulsdon,Oxted etc for around 400k,but if its the look you're after then those ones you have indicated look nice, can cost between 500k to 700k in these areas.
Horsham West Sussex is cheaper and also areas in Kent like Canterbury. These are all commuter areas taking less than 1 hour into London.0 -
I am amazed that every body wants to live in or near London. You could try looking around my neck of the woods, the Cambridgeshire Fens, property prices are reasonable (low compared to Cambridge and London) and the commuting time to London is just over an hour to Kings Cross (via Peterborough) or about 1 hour 30 mins to Liverpool Street (Via Ely and Cambridge).0

i live a few miles down the road from swanley and wilmington and would not buy a house in those areas due to the travellers sites that are in those areas . i know people who live in those areas who have big gates outside just to keep the travellers from raking through there front gardens! Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0
