That's the spirit. It probably looks bad to you because you're so used to see her with long hair - rest assured, it's very unlikely anyone else would notice she narrowly avoided being scalpelled!0 -
Phone your friend and let her know you've calmed down.
sounds like you may need good friends to rely on in the coming months, and you will be able to attend the hospital knowing your kids are safe in a house that will have been checked with a fine tooth comb(pardon the pun)for anything that can be used for hairdressing/stitchin gwounds/doing tattoos:eek:
Yes, I'd be very very angry too and want to know exactly what happened, but, look on the birght side, sometimes at that age a good chunk off the bottom can really thicken it up.
My 7 yo wanted her bottom length hair cut off, nagged me for months, and now I'm used to her shoulder length bob I have to admit she looks really pretty with it. We still have her ponytail though...Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

It's a horrible thing to happen although as you recognize, fairly trivial in the overall scheme of things but still gutting. Not the same thing but after my (1st) wedding I sent my wedding dress to the dry cleaners & they wrecked it & then tried to brush me off. I knew it didn't really matter, that I was never going to wear it again, that far worse things happen etc etc but I cried buckets then felt even worse for feeling guily over being upset about it. As long as you have things in proportion then I think it's OK to be upset about something which is personal to you even if ti is trivial.
Now you have to tell your daughter that she looks much more grown up with her new hairstyle.
And for what it's worth I'd be giving the "friend" the bill & would not avail myself of her well intentioned baby sitting service ever again, and I'd let her know why! Aart from anything else, she clearly doesn't supervise her children enough & potentially could have put your (and her) child in danger so she is not a good candidate for childcare IMHO:oPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

I'm really surprised that some people have said things like that there are people starving or dying of AIDS

We're all on a website trying to save a few pence here and a few quid there, we know there's more to life but this IS our lives and some things are important to us.
If you burn the dinner, fall and break your leg, crash your car or tear your new dress do you all say "oh well, there are people dying of AIDS"? If someone cut all your hair off would you laugh and say "oh what a jolly adventure?"
doubt it :rolleyes:Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Oh I really feel for you. My 3 year old recently fell on her front teeth and one of them has gone grey. I know it's not important what she looks like. But it's a parental guilt thing. I just feel soooooooo bad that I didn't catch her when she fell. Her grey tooth is a constant reminder of what a useless mother I was - albeit of a split second. Her tooth will fall out in about 3 years and a lovely new white one will - hopefully - grow in it's place, just as your daughters hair will grow back - even though it will never grow as fast as you'd like it to!! Thank heavens it's just hair.
I'd send the hairdressing bill to the parent concerned and give her a wide berth after that!! Stupid person letting her daughter butcher your little princess. My daughter has stunning long hair - I think I'd kill anyone that hacked it off!!
Important point though...I wondered once i'd gotten used to her grey tooth if my daughter had felt like I didn't think she was as pretty anymore. I kept saying to people how bad I felt and how I coudn't wait for the new one to grow. Let your little girl know that she's still beautiful. xLive as if your were to die tomorrow. It seems like you people have FAR too much time on your hands if you think that a botched haircut is so important. Wow, it's actually quite shocking.0

I was the person who said these things and of course if these things happened to me I would be upset or angry, but I'd get over it. It was things like the OP saying she couldn't look at her daughter without crying that got to me (sorry OP). It IS trivial and IMO after being initially a bit miffed/angry/upset they all should have had a good laugh and got on with it.
I don't wish to upset anyone and if my remarks have done so I apologise. I was just stating my opinion.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
My DD3 had lovely little curls in her hair when she was about 2. DD2 (then about 4) decided that she didn't like the attention that these curls got!!! She persuaded DD3 to sit down and have her hair cut by her. DD3 came downstairs patting her hair and saying "look at my lovely hair (it looked as if it had been put up in a ponytail). It took a moment to realise that she had had it cut nearly off!!! I had a bit of a panic and phoned the hairdresser because it looked odd and uneven. After the hairdresser had trimmed it, it looked lovely, really elfin and cute, still slightly crooked. She still goes on about it (laughingly) to this day and has lovely hair halfway down her back.
DD2 was notorious for cutting her own hair, at least once a month for quite a while. She now has lovely long wavy hair which she spends all her time straightening.0 -
If it really is all that bad why not try one of these?

OMG, I can't believe there's been 3 pages on this topic.
Lets keep things in proportion here. Its what kids do. The other child was 7. Still a child. Sending friends bills, asking how their child should be punished. Come on people! Get a grip. The OP has every right to be upset. i'd be upset too but lets not get carried away here.0
