On saturday 4th, i purchased from vodafone instore a data plan of 3gb per month and a free samsung n150 netbook all for £25p/m
as i did this instore, the guy dealing with me (assistant manager) printed out a sheet detailing the terms and all the facts and figures involved in this, then i read through it, and all the figures stacked up, so i signed it, and he processed it and gave me my netbook with wireless internet sim and gave me a receipt, so i went on my merry way home to enjoy my new netbook and make use of its internet and link it up with our wifi in my house.
the next day (yesterday) i was putting all the papers away when i noticed the receipt he gave me, it said that i have signed up for 1gb per month at £25p/m rather than 3gb, now i wouldnt need a huge amount of wireless internet outside of my house/work etc, but i still cant help feel hard done by out of this and decieved.
would i have grounds to go and cancell the 2 year contract if i took it back tonight or tomorrow since i noticed it early and have both the copy of the form i signed and the reciept of what he actually gave me which are different?
hope this is in the right place, not sure if it is though.
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to under the SOG act as you have the right to cancel within 7 days.Don't leave it longer than that tho.A friend of mine bought a 3 dongle from the P4U in Bloomfields center in Bangor as a christmas pressie for her daughter.Problem is the is no coverage in Millisle where she lives. She's stuck with it now..0

I don't think that I can help you with this but I did basically the same deal with Curry's in August for a Samsung netbook N150. Curry's, because they offered a 3gb limit, whereas Vodafone, in the shop next door!, were only offering 1gb.
Unfortunately, the netbook was stolen from my flat last week and I am now looking at how to get out of paying Vodafone 20 months at £25 to pay off this now useless contract.0 -
Spike-cooling off period allowed for in the distance selling regs do not apply to in-store purchases. There is no automatic right of return under the SOG. All you can do is ask Voda if they will switch it, unless you can prove mis-selling or an obvious error.
harryhart; commiserations, but won't your home contents insurance pay for a replacement laptop and dongle? Theft of the laptop does not invalidate your contract, Voda will hold to that.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Do you have a copy of the "facts and figures" that you signed. You must have a copy of something with your signature. If what you signed and your receipt differ then you shouldn't have a problem getting it sorted.
If you don't have it then go back to the store anyway and ask to take a look at the contract you signed that shows your 3GB data allowance.0 -
check your paper work as above and if it doesn't mention it go back to speak to the guy in person. Do it on saturday when the place is mobbed with potential customers and be nice but vocal about it. Should help get it resolved.0

yes i have both my receipt which shows the guy charged me £25 per month for 1gb and the form i signed saying he was giving me £25 per month for 3gb, normally i would just go and ask to get it fixed to 3gb, but i think i am going to try to use this to get out of the contract completely as i wasnt overly impressed with his attitude or the level of service i recieved, so to find that he has actually charged me for a third of the data per month than the form i signed says i am getting, makes me just want to go somewhere else and stay away from vodafone completely!0 -
I am afraid you may have overlooked something then: if they cancel the contract they will want the netbook back!
No netbook to give back and I doubt they'll cancel. sorry.Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.0 -

The netbook has been opened/used. It is now 2nd hand, worth maybe 33% less and they cannot resell it as new, so there's no way they'll void your contract. But based on what you have said, they should certainly correct the contract error.
Your mistake was falling for the 'free' laptop scam, not signing up for the wrong contract. You are paying £600 for a netbook that costs £250-is the 3GB pm airtime package really worth another £350?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
