and I had you down as tomorrow! Hope you have had a lovely birthday, and generous quantities of your chocolate cake.

I believe Crafty and AnWsmum are next week too.

Mudders - so sorry - I thought it was the day after as well - I should have remembered - and you kept quiet about my age! Hope you had a wonderful day.

    Good news vanilla.

Thanks for all my birthday wishes - went out for tea last night and then went to bed with the kids at 8 as I was shattered!

Mum and Dad's for tea tonight so not a lot will get done although the WM and TD are on.

    Have a good day all

How many tikkins, sorry chickens, have you got Soappie? We have 4 hybrids - Betsy, Peckish, Mabel and Tikka. We're getting 3 eggs a day and think someone isn't pulling their weight - DH keen to find out who the culprit is and roast her but I'm keeping quiet :)

I have four - they are Hy-Line Browns. I've had them since they were week old chicks. As to the three eggs - tell DH they are all laying just one is resting each day (after all, it's 26 hours between eggs apparently)

Love that word - never heard it before!

Right, the big clean-up begins today. Starting with me. I'm off to bathe....

Well, went to let the chickens out before running the bath, and there was egg number 3 - it must have just been laid because it's still warm! Holly certainly has got the hang of it...

Morning all, well the snow is starting to go away now. I can see the tops of the wheelie bins.:rotfl:

Must go get breakfast done and check my banking.

Soappie we've the same hens as you. We have 3 and would get 3 eggs everyday but in the winter it drop's down for a few weeks and then back to 3.

Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

    Morning all!

The overnight 'high' temperature has done the business - thaw going great! Still slippy/slushy but there's less of it. Most important job today (besides delivering a birthday card & gift - a New Look voucher accompanied by a 20% off voucher thus boosting the value of my gift! very MSE!) is to get fuel and check my tyre pressures.

Triker - I'm furious too, not only for my kids - one will be hit the first year and then the others to follow but for all of those kids out there. The amount they have decided to raise it in one go is shameful. They spend £17m trying to get the world cup and managed to get one vote for that money. Really not sure if I'll be encouraging any of mine to go.

All kids in school so off to do some chores in another town after I've emptied the WM.

Wm on and wet clothes sorted, dw been unloaded and reloaded. Livingroom cleared of junk again.

Hubby got through to BIL last night as they where to go away together. My sister and BIL landed at 7.30, she was a bit peeved off but her hubby had kept his cool so she didn't huff so bad, i didn't think she would show up. As far as i know she didn't tell him about the loan but thats up to her. At least some stress has been lifted. :D

DD managed to catch her fingers on the bathroom door so there bruised this morning and all wrapped up, poor wee thing couldn't stop shaking.

Right back to flying, need to get the fire cleaned out, make the beds, gather dirty washing and fill the stick box.

    .

My thoughts exactly Dusty and Triker. I have to say, though, I would be campaigning to have the time it takes to do a degree shortened. In Scotland it's 4 years, I believe in England it's 3.
There's such a long spread of summer holiday which, if it was cut down would significantly shorten the length of the degree courses, and mean that the students wouldn't have to take out such large loans etc. and could get on with actually doing what they were qualified to do much sooner. It makes sense to me. Chatting about it to my father, who is interested in education history, it seems it came about when students and tutors were supposed to take long holidays to "improve the mind". Well, we have gap years for that now, if someone chooses to do that. My daughter believes her course could easily be shortened to 2 1/2 years, and she would still have the placement experience/academic experience she would leave uni with after 4 years, a much reduced student loan, and money in her pocket from being able to take up her chosen occupation 2 years earlier. Just my opinion though.
