It most certainly would, but a half decent one isnt going to be cheap:idea:0 -

Hmmm, so I'm guessing the one I've seen for £50 wouldnt be worth the money?

Your scart would probably sound better:idea:0 -

Well seeing as I can't get the scart to work with HDMI sources I doubt that!
I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm going to need to get a new sound system, problem is my lounge is only about 12ft by 10ft so theres little point in getting surround sound (plus I don't want wires going everywhere and the problem of attaching rear speakers to the wall).
How do I go about getting another 2.1 system? Am I looking at an AV Receive, speakers and a sub as seperates?0 -
I was talking on a 'quality' level
If all you want is 'sound' then buy the gizmo you posted:idea:0 -

Its by no stretch hi Fi, but i recently bought a Samsung 2.1 sound bar. Minimal wiring and you can screw it on the wall if you want.
It has optical inputs and a wireless sub woofer.
Makes a nice noise, Arnie's bike was sounding really good in terminator last night.

Price seems to have gone up recently I think I payed around £219.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I was looking at soundbars as an alternative, but wasn't sure of the sound quality. Would you recommend one for the price of £230?0 -
Did you try turning up tv volume whilst using the h/phone jack ?0

Yea, and to be honest I cant be sure if it sounds worse or whether I just think it sounds worse than using the phono to phono cables, i was hoping there was a definative answer.
Im watching it now & the sound is ok so I may just see how I get on whilst watching blu rays etc0
