  • Thanks, for that. Wil this affect the sound or will it still sound good?

You have a set of 2:1 speakers which end with phono plugs, I suspect any degradation in quality through using the scart socket wouldn't be noticed by you :)

Right I've just found some of the cables that came with the speakers. Theres a phono to 3.5mm jack and when I plug this into the 3.5mm jack on the tv the sounnd comes out of the speakers. However, its quieter and doesn't seem to have as much "punch" as when I plugged the phono's directly into the audio out of the sky box.

I've noticed theres a "Digital Audio Out (Optical) on the back of the TV, would I be able to use this? And what cable would I need?

Only if your 2.1 system has an optical input .. although there might be convertors out there for optical to phono , I don't know about that!

The scart adapter as previously posted is your cheapest option.

For optical cables Google TOS Link
That gum you like is coming back in style.

You need a DA converter, not a lead, in order to convert the digital output from this to an analogue signal for your speakers.

The level from the headphone socket will vary according to the volume set on the TV, so increase this and see if it sounds better.

Someone suggested the SCART adaptor earlier - does the set have SCART sockets as well as HDMI?

Its hard to tell through the manual, but id assume the scart would send audio out from whatevers on tv at the time, which would (Hopefully) would work through your system (Nice system by the way)

Im also assuming theres only 1 pair of phonos on your 2.1 system? If 2 or more then just connect phonos for both sources

Thanks mate. Yea there's only one pair of phono's on the 2.1 system. I've gone for a scart adapter so will see how I get on, really don't want to have to go out and buy a new speaker system!
