Audio problem on new TV - Help required.

I'v bought a Samsung LE40C580 LCD TV today and I'm having some problems getting my 2.1 speakers to work with it.

If I plug the cables (the red and white ones) into the AV In or Component In I get no sound through my speakers, but if I plug them into the AV Out on my Sky HD Box it works fine.

Sorted I thought, well, not quite. When I turn my PS3 on and turn to I still get the sound from whatever it playing through Sky.

Does anyone know how I can set it up so that both Sky and PS3 comes through the speakers??

Let's see if we're clear - you want the audio from your TV, a Sky Box and a PS3 fed into a powered set of 2.1 amp/speakers?

You need a switching box, or input selector, unless the 2.1 system has more than one input.

How are the TV, Sky Box and PS3 connected at the moment, before you add the 2.1 into the equation?

Yes, I want all the sound to come through the speakers.

Both the Sky box and PS3 are connected to the TV by HDMI cabes.

I've used the speakers fro years with no problems on my Samsung 32" by connecting it to the audio out, but it doesn't look like this new Samsung TV has an audio out, yet theres an option for external speakers in the menu!

What are these switcher boxes and where can I get one from?

EDIT: These are the speakers I'm trying to connect if it helps:

You'll have to use the 3.5mm h/phone jack out.

How do i do this? Theres two audio cales but only one headphone socket.

Also, will it affect the sound quality?

3.5mm to twin phono lead, into switch box, output from switch box to speaker system

Yes, audio from headphone socket unlikely to be as good as dedicated line-level output

Next time, make sure the TV has all the outputs you need before you buy, maybe....?

Havn't got that model and I use the optical output on my set, but you could use a scart adapter.

It didn't even cross my mind that a tv wouldn't have an audio out. Every tv I've ever owned has had audio out.

The amazon link tech detail says -

    Technical Details

    Accessories:
    2 x 5 metre Speaker cables
    1 x 2 metre Signal input cable
1 x Speaker level to line level adaptor cable
    Inputs:
    3 x RCA Phono - Line level
1 x Stereo Mini jack - Line level
    Outputs:
    3 x Speaker terminals

Surely if you take this from tv to speakers anything from tv will sound through speakers? Don't know exactly what the 2 metre signal input cable you have is!
Headphone is stereo and may well be good spec.

Buried in this review just before conclusion ,before comments start, doesn't seem to be a problem.

Thanks, for that. Wil this affect the sound or will it still sound good?

The OP CAN'T take a speaker output and feed it to the line input of an amplified speaker system (as he seems to have, by the mention of red/white cables leading to it).
