It didn't even cross my mind that a tv wouldn't have an audio out. Every tv I've ever owned has had audio out.

They still do, but a lot of them are optical now

Ok, quick update. I've just had a scart adapter delivered, and it works. However, I can only seem to get the audio from the source "TV". If I switch to any other source i.e. HDMI or HDD the sound will still come from whats playing on "TV".

Any suggestions? I'm at a loss!

On the TV, I don't have an amp. The scart adapter is connected to the TV and the speakers are connected to the TV via the scart connector.

Sound comes out of the 2.1 speakers now, but only from whatever is playing on "TV". If I change the source on the TV to HDMI for SKY or PS3 it continues to play whatever is on "TV".

    Any idea's?

There may be a menu option to select what's being sent to the SCART - I have similar on my Panasonic - I can select whether I send broadcast signal, AV1, AV3 or AV4 to the output at AV2 SCART. Look for something similar on yours

The 2.1 speakers must have an amp inbuilt else youd hardly hear anything
But as googler said, probably need to switch between AV sources for the scart output somehow

The sound is fine, i just cant see a way of switching the av sources to the scart output.

If i connect them up to the headphone socket (the speakers came with a phono to 3.5mm jack) will I see a noticable degredation in sound quality?

I definitely would on my system. Depends how good your system (And your hearing) really is

Ok, what about a DAC converter? Would that do the trick?
