Children who cannot feed themselves

I would like to point out that not all children with "Special Needs" look like they are "Special Needs" with out knowing the history of the child, who are you to judge. I have a Autistic son age 8, he can not use a knife, fork or spoon, and uses his hands to eat everything, and has trouble speaking. But he looks like any other normal like 8 year old boy. May be this child was the same. Autism has many different forms from mild to the what you would call "Special Needs".
Here , here Madjay!:)
I think I got the quote about the bottle wrong I thought you meant he was drinking from a babies bottle..
So what if the drink had sugar in it???
And yes , my Grandson starts school , complete with uniform when he is 4
God knows what reactions he / my daughter will get if she takes him out to eat and he still can't feed himself by then , bless!!!!
But also THANK GOD not everyone is like you - So NO all UK children are ''like that''..
All children are unique individuals and deserve compassion caring and understanding - Not blatant hostility from onlookers who know NOTHING about their circumstances!!!!0 -
QUOTE ; ''The only "problem" was that he was either not taught or was so spoiled - one of the two.''
IGNORANCE is NOT bliss!!!!0 -

My eight year old daughter looks like every other child, talks like every other child and rarely do people notice anything different with her. She has a form of autism and does have her food cut for her and in some cases helped with foods, she struggles with her hand control and we do our cutlery lessons at home. She's also a high achieving child at school and is usually seen reading books well ahead of her age group.
Of course if I did try and make her cut food out in public to keep people like PolishBigSpender happy, then I'm sure this post would be about tantruming children as she gets frustrated very easily and can look just like a little child throwing a tantrum when she gets frustrated.
People judge me on my pink hair and alternative appearance, I frequently get the "discounts if you're on benefits line". Oh and god help me when my young self parks in a blue bay, because there's no way someone like me should be disabled.
It really doesn't do any good to judge on appearances.

Good post Kitty Lady - my 4 year old has ASD andis the same, though he cant even use a knife and fork as he doesnt have the co-ordination to get cutlery from the plate to his mouth.
Its judgy people like the OP that make me too embarrased to take him out to eat.Moving on upSPC #382 ~ £40 banked

Guess we all need to start waving signs above our kids to keep some folk happy.
Paint their faces green?
I think people would get a shock if they saw the amount of children with green faces who looked 'normal'.
'Why has he got a green face? He looks normal to me!'0 -
He cannot use a knife and fork as yet and drinks from a training cup ... The BOTTLE should have given it away for you ... A child in school uniform would NOT be drinking from A BOTTLE UNLESS HE HAD SPECIAL NEEDS!!
Now that you've finished ranting, I'll take the opportunity to inform you that the "bottle" was in fact a wide-necked plastic bottle of sugary badness - something similar to Coca-Cola.From Poland...with love.

I was in a food court the other day and saw a young woman who appeared to be Polish staring at a child being fed. Is this normal in Poland and are all Poles nosy barstewards? British people learn to be discrete when observing someone.

So they are just as nosey, but more sneaky :P
And that's a very faaaar shot, I loathe tight jeans and I don't wear high bootsIs it a new stereotype of a Polish person in the UK?

In reply to your original question, a friend works with under fives and assures me the standard of manners, and self-feeding ability has deteriorated, whilst the use of foul and abusive language has increased.
Another friend works in a primary school where she and others are regularly called " white beach " (admittedly in a foreign language).0 -

I never mentioned they were high boots, seems you do know what I am talking about.
I think a lot of young Polish women wear them because they can and not look like a sack of spanners. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
