The job centre used to work closely with me.
I would advertise jobs in the centre and they would send applicants to me.
These jobs were advertised a temporary I then had to feed back the result of the interviews . I would also remove the job the minute the vacancy had been filled
You say you were successfull .. who with?
The company who were recruiting through the agency?
or you were successfull with registering with the agency?

Let me see .. Those poor old employers have no choice but to advertise vacancies through an agency. They are FORCED to pay over the odds because they have no other way to advertise the job themselves and work through the applications.
They use the agencies because they know that the consultants don't give a darn what calliber of potential employee they are putting forward as long as they get the cash . Return business is not a concern at all :rotfl:
All the people looking for work are then FORCED to register for jobs with these darned nasty , in it for the money , self centered .. BIG POINT HERE.. BUSINESSES.. because those poor employers have no other option.
YEP its all the agencys faults and they are all mean and nasty.. get rid of them all and rely on the job centre.

Oh Yes please -Any chance of this happening ???. Then we would all be able to apply for jobs on a level playing field, instead of going through you expert recruitment agency consultants who always place the right candidates for the right positions.:p

So you want people to have no job security eh, You want to push people into short term crappy contracts ? Then when they are shoved out the door by the agency because they no longer need / want them, what then? I'll tell you what happens, They will end up back unemployed and then go back to other agency's and follow the same cycle of of working for a few month, unemployed for a few month, If that's your idea of a future then so be it but It's not mine. I wan't to work for a ACTUAL COMPANY and not have some agency call me up after 2 weeks saying the company don't need me now due to work being a bit slack, But don't worry we'll call you when some work comes in, That's what happens

If the job is temporary it is exactly what it says on the tin!
You can choose to wait for a permanent position to become avaliable you can also choose to apply to companies who advertise direct in the local job centre etc..
Unfortunately whether you find a job through an agency or directly through a company, these days no ones job security is guaranteed

Not until the employers stop using the agencies instead of the DIY approach ..
    and why should they?

Well I was told if I came round to the agency and registered then the job I originally applied for would be mine, Maybe at the time I was a little naive due to never having used a agency before, Or maybe I just wasn't expecting to be lied to, Then when you go from expecting a 38 hrs a week job to doing 2 hours a day then Its a a bit of a shock and its impossible to survive on such hours

Originally they just told you to come and sign up. Or did they actually say "If you have the relavant qualifications you should come and register because we have an immediate start after a successful interview'

Second part, I simply don't believe you, sorry. Why would they say that to you, so that you can tell everyone you know not to bother registering with them, and tell the JC they are only fishing. It does not ring true.

So your saying agency's don't advertise jobs that don't exist ? lol

Did you get placed with the job you registered for?
    was it a temporary position?

So the first time you informed the consultant about your job offer he/she ( lets say he from now on) didn't ask where it was , but when you contacted him again in the afternoon of the same day of the interview, to remind him you needed an answer that day, after telling you the decision had not yet been reached, suddenly he was interested about the details of company 2. You kindly gave him the information and he immediately got in touch with company 2 to offer the agencies services for the job you had already been offered

    And your point is??

Actually, he asked me where the offer was the first time but I said that I'd rather not say unless I had accepted it.

It appears that you are desperate to try and find something underhand that you think I have done.

The job I applied for didn't exist, They wanted me or people like me with the relevant qualification on the books for when vacancy's like the ones they posted became available, This was not pointed out until I signed the paperwork, Registered and had a interview at the agency's, This is why I was !!!!ed off, Not so bad had they had full time work even if it wasn't the job I applied for but they only had part time which is what I was stuck with, This was until they actually ran out of work and stopped calling.

The agency were breaking the law if they were advertising a fictitious job.. next time inform the job centre .. sorry its a bit late for this advice..
If you were signing on' then as the job was advertised with the job centre did the JC ask you about the outcome?
Next time, if you ever go back to an agency .. tell them catagorically you are only prepared to take full time work.
I'm really sorry you had this happen to you
