PCN received through post but registration plate is incorrect by one digit

I've received a PCN through the post for a tiny tiny box junction infringement. Obviously they have found my address via the DVLA.
However, going online to pay, I notice they have me down as ****O** rather than ****0** (a letter 'oh' rather than number zero).
Clearly the DVLA have spotted the mistake and paid it no heed.
But can I dodge the PCN because they have the wrong registration?
The two accompanying photos have my plate very clearly however.
Any help much appreciated!
Q1. Why are you asking advice on how to evade a penalty, when it's clear you flouted the rules?
Q2. Why are members actually entertaining this nonsense?A stitch in time means you can't afford a new one.0 -

We don't even know that the OP did flout the rules?
The council have, though.0 -
If a person parked on a yellow line but the warden mis-wrote a ticket, there's no denying they parked on a yellow line. The contravention did indeed occur, although may not be enforceable if the authority can't trace the driver or the driver (if traced) had the case thrown out on a technicality or "procedural impropriety". There is a difference. Not so sure Dave. The contravention as described did not occur if there is any character wrong. Consider the registration PO02 ABC. Having this down as POO2 ABC would invalidate the PCN.
The registration POO2 ABC does not exist in the UK, but anyone with knowledge of DVLA registration formats who reads the ticket would interpret it as PO02 ABC and trace the keeper from that. Once traced, (and remember that POO2 ABC would not be traceable at all) any enforcing court or adjudicator is likely (not certain, but likely) to dismiss an appeal on the grounds that the attempt to invalidate a ticket by splitting hairs over 0 and O is de minimis. A bigger mistake or omission, such as substituting a G for a Z, would throw reasonable doubt over the identity of the keeper, so is more likely to result in a dismissal as the contravention cannot be reasonably proven against that person.
It's like the parking adjudicator's decision that the absence of a termination T bar on a yellow line should not invalidate the presence of the yellow line itself as any 'normal person' would know what the yellow line should mean and should not park there. The trifling T-bar question was dismissed as de minimis and the appeal rejected.0 -

Do I need to publish the picture, or can you paint it yourself?
This gets back to a post I made a week or so ago. Members here are far too eager to profer advice, predicated on some misnoamer that there is a battle between "them and us", them being anyone who has the audacity to penalise.,,, predicated no doubt on the Robin Hood folklore legacy.
Sure the rules might be oppressive, trivial and unfair, but we allowed it to happen because some grumpy pedants complained and the govt saw an opportunity to squeeze more money from the public to pay for their trips abroad and Friday luncheons.A stitch in time means you can't afford a new one.0 -
No. The OP has assumed that, because he has received a PCN through the post, he has committed a yellox box contravention. He may not have done.
OP - you need to take this to pepipoo.com for some proper advice. You'll need to post up the ticket (all of it).0 -

But the councils often don't adhere to the rules themselves. That's OK by you, is it?
I've had a PCN cancelled in the last couple of weeks because I knew that there were several fatal flaws in the PCN. The council knew too, and cancelled it straight away. However, they are continuing to issue PCNs with the same errors. They'll cancel them if challenged - they don't want them to go to adjudication because it's a big issue, and they know it.0 -

No it's not alright by me, unless I'm the one trying to weazel out of a fine, everyone should be subjected to the sames rules.
The OP knows he/she is guilty, but trying to play the game, which could result in waisted council and courts expenditure, ultimately taxpayer monies. Enough successful evasions and the council will introduce even more draconian rules and policing.
If you want a real cause to prosecute support wilkileaks and boycott Amazon, Ebay and Paypal. Protest to your local MP and the Swedish Govt. Direct that anger and talents at something that matters:

I'm very eager to 'proffer advice' but I don't know what a misnoamer is...:p
And as for your last paragraph (in bold) you would know about 'squeezing money from the public' to pay for your trips abroad and Friday luncheons wouldn't you Perky?
I am surprised you are still in this Country (maybe you are not, perhaps you are on a beach somewhere - Sharm el Sheikh maybe, that's where sharks go I hear)?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
