I have tried for the third time with a different sim card and the message I received was Incorrect Code - is there an easy way to tell if phone is locked to all Networks?

Is there any way I can get a code to unlock my Nokia 6280. I was with 'Three' on a contract but have just upgraded and now my Nokia is just sitting there.... I understand 'Three' charge £15 but would obviously prefer to do it myself if possible. many thanks.
