Morning all
The snow layed yesterday and froze last night - we had freezing fog this morning which seems to be lifting. I have to go and do three big MS jobs which I can take DD with me and will hopefully drop in and see Santa on our travels. DSS is in the dog house - he will stay here with DS1. DH is at work today and then again this evening.
House is a bomb sitewill make headway tomorrow hopefully..... DS1 is off for a couple of days so he may help out.
JackieO - stay warm and hope you feel better soon
Bitsy - i'm sure your heart stopped - I know if I lose sight of DD for even a moment I panic
Hope the thaw continues and things get back to normal soon for you all on the mainland. My family in the North east have been badly affected by it all too.
Enjoy your day xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning all
My sleeping pattern is still off kilter, went to bed at 11pm but didn't got to sleep til almost 2am, and just woke up now. I'm not normally really affected by jet lag after transatlantic flights (cos I have done so many lol!).
I'm going out and about today. No snow here, dock is only partially frozen. Will check with parents that the roads are ok by them and if so will go there, to my nan's and to library, plus I'll do food shop on way home then.
OS wise - WM is on with last holiday load. DW will probably go on later. Not sure what I'm having for dinner today, depends on what I buy later! Also need to finish unpacking my suitcase before it becomes a permanent feature in my lounge! :rotfl:
Have a great day all

Definate thaw here,we're up to 5 deg.I noticed the gutter dripping when I went out with the dog.Last time we had snow ,the weight of it caused the plastic gutters to sag and some of the fixy things broke. Will have to tell DH when he comes back- he's gone to work for a bit so they can get a good start on Monday.
Molly, you sound much brighter, long may it last.
Taplady- poor DH.Thats the trouble when you work outside, once you get that cold it takes a long time to warm up and feel right.
Bitsy- like s.o. last night said-its prob happened to most of us who 've had kids- our DS2 got lost once on holiday in Rhodes,in a village with lots of narrow little streets,we were running round in circles driving ourselves mad-he did the sensible thing and sat in the village square, mind you he was about 9 then so older than your DS.Actually, thinking about it,DH lost DS1 at a car show,he was 3 at the time,it came over the tannoy a little boy called ' **** car' had been found-he knew it was him as he was obsessed with cars, obviously wanted to be called car rather than our surname :rotfl:It feels so horrible at the time, hugs to you both.
Hope those of you feeling poorly get better soon.
OS plans- prob make some soup in a minute, but will prob treat ourselves to an Indian takeaway tonight, our local one delivers.I dont need to make any bread today.Once I've finished tidying,I should get chance to do some sewing.I fell asleep last night picturing which of my patterns to use with which material,as I got 3 cheap pieces last week-very sad I know :rotfl:
I've also got a big stack of glossy mags my neighbour brought round yesterday that her friend gave her-she must spend a fortune on them.I'm not complaining though,as on the whole apart from my 2 subscriptions I stopped buying them.
Bye for now.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon!
Not long up, although I've been awake since 8am, but as OH was off we had a nice morning lying chatting in bed, and the boys coming in and out for a cuddle and a laugh, it was really nice, as OH hasn't been off in the morning for about eight weeks.I have a sore head now though, hopefully that will go after a cuppa or two. OH has gone out now to collect his gear from the job as he finished up yesterday, and we are having some together time, us four.
I have had mother in law on the phone for twenty minutes complaining about her neighbour shovelling the snow up into a big ridge in front of her drive so she cant' get her car out, he denied it when she asked him about it, even though she watched him do it, she is really livid :rotfl: for a wee woman she is really scary when she starts I wouldn't like to be him!
Hope you all have good days, and that JackieO feels better soon. Bitsy I will message you on FB. I received a lovely parcel this morning

Morning all,
Yesterday tea time it was minus 10 here, by 10 last night it was 2 degrees, very strange weather, we had about a foot of snow yesterday and this morning it has almost all gone. I was really sad to hear on the news about the death of two elderly people (seperatly) one old chap had gone out for coal slipped and could not get up, died of hypothermia, and a lady went out to the outside loo (she could not get up the stairs to the inside one) and the same happened, their neighbours found them in the morning. Keep checking on your elderly neighbours folks.
OK onto today, 2 loads to wash, 1st is just about finished, will put on the airer / rads. looks like rain out there, need to hoover through, and give lounge / kitchen a going over.
Dinner tonight will be chilli, bought a big pack of mince so there will be loads of leftovers :T, OH can cook it
Might pop into the local town later on, dd wants to see her friend, she has been stuck in the house for 2 days, and is going stir crazy :rotfl:.
On that subject dd has asked if she can stay over at her friends, which would not normally be a problem, she goes there all the time, but this time the parents are away, leaving dd's friend and her younger sister home alone, dd and friend are 16, and sister is about 12, I was really pleased that dd had been honest and asked me if it was ok, but am a bit worried about them being alone all night, they are both sensible girls, what do you think ??
Jackie O, hope you feel better soon xx
Tappers, I hope taplord is ok, keep him wrapped up warm xxx
Have good days all xx
edit, sistercas, I hope you feel better soon xx
Hi redruby:j:j
If you trust your DD and her friend then i can not see any problem with them staying together. When i was her age my mom and dad would go away for a weekend and id have a couple of mate round to stop. We would always have a bit of a party (dose not mean your dd will) When my mom came back shw was always pleased with how tidy the house was:) We use to go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure that we had not left anything about taht could have got us into trouble:D She always use to say what tidy young me we were and could not understand why i was not like it normaly.:D She has since told me that she knew what use to go on but she never said anything as we always looked after the house while she was not there so there was no problem.
If you trust your DD and then let her be grown up for the weekend. She wont let you down as she wonts to be treated as an adult and there for she should behave link one.
You have a great relashionship with your DD and she know were you are if she needs anything.

All the snow on the ground here has started to melt. It been said on the wether report that this cold wether could last untill the new year:eek::eek:
Iv been to work again this morning 6:00am-11:0am.
The twins are a lot better now and have been to there danceing class. They are now having beans on toast for there dinner and will be having grapes and blue berrys for there pudding.
Im going to have some more punkin and garlic soupe for my lunch. Not sure what dinner tonight will be.
Not going to be doing much this afternoon. The twins will be off for there afternoon nap and i might well have one myself.
I hope that you are all keeping warm, and keeping an eye on any old or sick people that you know. Somtimes a phone call can make all the diffrence to someone.
Enjoy your saturday everyone:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Afternoon all!!
Have not been up long, naughtyy! found a man passed out outside my house at 5:30 this morning so had to call the police to come and collect him. He'll probably be waking up with a hangover at the local old bill, hope he's okay. Called the non emergency number but they were there within 5 mins to get him.
Hope to do some baking today. Test run some christmas present recipes maybe. No idea what ot do for dinner tonight, as had planned fajitas but we ate them yesterday.
Also want to crack on with Crocheting (is that right?) and read some of my book. Have work tomorrow and just realised i need to leave about 2 hours early to get the on time! should have looked into this before agreeing to work... nevermind!

Hello everyone
Nice quiet weekend for us here - a bit different to last weekend when we were in the middle of house clearing.
DH is sat with Saturdays newspaper and Im just busy with computer. We are warm and cosy - its thawing outside, damp and drippy and our side road isnt good for driving or walking on as there is still a layer of packed ice.
Celebrated Mums 92nd birthday yesterday - rustled up a quick cake and even managed to get some 92 numbers to put on top. She said that she and dad never even expected to get to the year 2000 and yet here they both still are. Im so lucky !
Not much to report OSwise - homemade soup for lunch and have planned some pork fillet and mushroom rissotto for evening meal. The twinks hobnobs I made yesterday are disapppearing much too fast !!:D
Enjoy your Xmas parties those who are out tonight and hope everyone else stays warm and safe whatever you choose to do.
