morning!
didn't get on here yesterday - bit of a fraught day here!
Poor DH is struggling in this weather - he felt ill and came home to warm up yesterday and then later one of his customers insisted he came in for a warm and a drink - turns out she's a retired surgeon and told him that his symptoms were the onset of hypothermia:eek: he's also got a stinking cold so this afternoon when he gets home I'm insisting he stops in front of the fire and rests.
It was minus 9 yesterday morning at 9am here.
This morning all the melting snow is pure ice - Louie dog went skidding like Bambi when he ran out of the door this morning!
DH and I had to rescue DS1 last night in Worcester as he had 2 flat tyres and was in the middle of nowhere! sorted him out and hten we got in a blizzard on the way home and skidded all ove the road but luckily DH is an excellent driver and coped well - just glad it wasn't me driving.
OS wise - I'm off shopping later when I drop DS2 off at work, going to make some soup later - veggie I think. The house is in dire need of a clean too. Then I too shall sit in front of the fire - we havent lit it yet this year so am looking forward to our first real fire:)
Bitsy - not sure what happened to you yesterday but (((hugs))) from me x
have a great weekend all - keep warm and safe xDo what you love :happyhear0 -

Tiny flutter of snow last night but no more, have been in for days so will venture out later, will have to take DS's car as mine is snowed in. Our road looks really bad although have to say we are an estate road and the gritter came down it yesterday  so hopefully that might help melt some of it.
Nothing else much planned for the day, just sat and watched a CHristmas film this morning, few decorations are starting to go up around us.
Have a great day everyone.0 -

Good morning, everyone.
I hope you feel better soon, Jackie.
It's a long time since I've popped in, but work messed up my pay and I haven't been paid at all since I started there weeks ago. And so I'm 'eeking out' as I learnt so well on this board!
And being off work is giving me an opportunity to get more housework done than I normally would - my bathroom tiles look so shiny after a steam clean yesterday!
Today I'd like to get some work done (for the place that isn't paying me yet!), do big water changes on all my fish tanks and make a fruit crumble with tinned fruit. And I'll be looking for baking recipes that don't include eggs.
So keep warm, everyone,

It definitely feels warmer today - Great! seeing as we have no central heatingI hope the engineer brings the right parts on Monday because this freeze looks to be on a par with 1963 :eek:
Our next door neighbours have said that we can use their shower today for which I am grateful.
DH and the kids are going down to the school Christmas fair as helpers today which will give me a few hours to catch up on stuff and not get nagged.:D
Tree and decs are going up tomorrow so that will clear some space up.
Taplady I hope DH is more careful in the cold  he should be wearing thermal underwear and layer, layer layer plus carry a blanket and a flask or two of something hot.
Bitsy  Every parents nightmare ((((((((Hugs))))))))
Tru Christmas pud too SNAP!:rotfl:
Keep warm and safe all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning all,
Yesterday tea time it was minus 10 here, by 10 last night it was 2 degrees, very strange weather, we had about a foot of snow yesterday and this morning it has almost all gone. I was really sad to hear on the news about the death of two elderly people (seperatly) one old chap had gone out for coal slipped and could not get up, died of hypothermia, and a lady went out to the outside loo (she could not get up the stairs to the inside one) and the same happened, their neighbours found them in the morning. Keep checking on your elderly neighbours folks.
OK onto today, 2 loads to wash, 1st is just about finished, will put on the airer / rads. looks like rain out there, need to hoover through, and give lounge / kitchen a going over.
Dinner tonight will be chilli, bought a big pack of mince so there will be loads of leftovers :T, OH can cook it
Might pop into the local town later on, dd wants to see her friend, she has been stuck in the house for 2 days, and is going stir crazy :rotfl:.
On that subject dd has asked if she can stay over at her friends, which would not normally be a problem, she goes there all the time, but this time the parents are away, leaving dd's friend and her younger sister home alone, dd and friend are 16, and sister is about 12, I was really pleased that dd had been honest and asked me if it was ok, but am a bit worried about them being alone all night, they are both sensible girls, what do you think ??
Jackie O, hope you feel better soon xx
Tappers, I hope taplord is ok, keep him wrapped up warm xxx
Have good days all xx
edit, sistercas, I hope you feel better soon xx0 -
For those of you who don't know what happened DS was sent back to class for his wellies, managed to miss seeing me with DD, mindee and pushchair and promptly left the grounds and started walking home, getting very upset and wailing "mommy wait for me"
thankfully a friend spotted him and brought him back to school as i was preparing to panic as they couldn't find him in school and he wasn't in the playground.
I think I need an extending dog lead
sistercas - hugs for you, feel better soon xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Will try to be quick this morning, as we keep having power cuts, and have just lost a long post!
Dinner was fish for both DH and myself last night, boys had sausages, yorkshires, pots, veg and gravy.
DS1 gone off to his Cadet weekend, DS2 doesn't quite know what to do without him, no doubt they'll be arguing within 10 mins of him coming home though!!
Was productive again yesterday and did some cooking, wanted to do some more today but will wait to see if power is more settled, not too worried as could do this Monday if needed. Have a day's holiday on Monday so will be going to next town to finish up prezzies, it's only 10 miles away and I'm intending to be back lunchtime'ish, so I can do stuff here.
Want to sort DS2's bedroom today and see what needs selling, binning, charity shop etc, it's a pit but needs doing. Want to make some soup for lunches this next week but again may do this tomorrow or Monday. Lost another 1lb at the scales but went up 1lb the other week then stayed the same so actually still about the same, want to try having soup for a few lunches to see if that makes any difference, and the change will be nice.
Not sure what we'll be having for dinner tonight, need to organise something.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

morning all
i slept for nearly 12 hours last night  thats almost unheard of
woken up to find ds and alan up and dressed and the kitchen sorted. he was just tidying the living room.
the plan today is to rearrange the living room so we can fit the xmas tree in and then get it out of the loft. we're debating whether to put it up whilst ds is sleeping or let him help... i think whilse he is sleeping is probably the sensible idea :rotfl:
need to get a turkey and some christmas bits in and still have loads of shopping for pressies to do
