NGM I did actually refer specifically to the census coverage survey so was a bit amazed to get a diatribe about the census.
I do agree with your last paragraph though. Except I would perhaps compare it to Jehovah's Witnesses.
Lil_Me that's by far the best I've seen it explained! :j
Thanet I'm actually as much on the side of the survey takers because it seems to me that in some cases, unfair pressure is being put on them as well. I suppose it's possible that pressure is being applied all down the chain.

I think part of the issue is that the CCS isn't really talked about! 1% of households hear about it every 10 years, so people are rightfully suspicious when we turn up on their door, more so when they've already done the census and they don't understand why we're contacting them. They think we're chasing them for something they've already done! We're up to 85% response rate in my area though so things could be worse.

Still not received my completion payment from my collectors role yet. Turns out my local coordinator had not approved it so now got to wait till the regional manager has 'access to the authorisation screen' on friday to get it through next week, shambles !

Headless chicken time!! Oh god when will the prozac kick in. Well the whole farce seems to be going out with a bang. Team meeting turned into a marathon 5 hour, caffeine fueled rant. 85% completed not good enough! Dead resident? call Doris Stokes, no answer wait until dark to see if the lights come on. Oh please how anal are these people.
Stuffing bloody envelopes all day for new forms, covering letter and return envelope and BOLD YELLOW stricker for those who can't be arsed to read and dispose of in the round filing cabinet at their leisure! Oh and these have to be delivered to all those who refused in the first place. I will take my running shoes and a hat tomorrow when these are delivered.
ONS you are a disgrace and CAPITA a bunch of clowns. Ill thought out, badly managed total waste of time, effort and MONEY.

Thanet - our team meeting took 2 hours and we were all done! We pretty much missed the "this is your % rate" and "how did it go" and we just got on with the bonus task in hand. Letters all stuffed within the 2 hour meeting and handed out in another hour. Could be a lot worse!

    got mine -

This is to confirm that the above was employed as a Census Collector from 06/04/2011 to
13/05/2011. Due to the volumes of people employed this letter is a full employment reference and
The Office for National Statistics will not be able to respond to individual reference requests :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:

Team meeting went well, we had an excellent response rate, 1.5 hours to wind things down and sort out the post back forms. Hour or so to deliver, a job well done and worthwhile :T

Team meeting was okay, no pressure about refusals rate (we're apparently doing well in the league tables). I even managed to get the figures for me and my 'partner' for the last week. He's been ignoring all of my requests for his numbers! Really odd, but I've been sending him mine so that he could report to our team leader every other day because I really couldn't care less. Bizarre power play I think, he's been acting weirdly since I said I couldn't go for lunch one day.

I even managed to get 3 interviews on the last day!
