Made the Sunday joint stretch to a shepherds pie for tea tonight.

I'm sat here getting hungry and realised I'd forgotten to put the oven on.

    Senior moment.......:o

So what do you forget when cooking?

  • I eat most of my veg raw but i put it in the same pan of water as the ones im going to cook for the family so they dont dry out. Im always forgetting to take them out before i cook them though :(
  • Since we moved and now have a gas oven without flashing lights, OH and I have forgotten to turn the oven off a couple of times. :o

I get sooooo mad when I've woken up and realised! Same with the fridge and freezer not being closed properly.
  • I quite often forget to put sugar in muffins. I'm not sure why it's only the sugar I forget:confused: I once had to scrape it all out of the paper cases and back into the bowl to stir in the sugar:rolleyes:

The other day I put sweetcorn in the pan bit of my steamer, then peas in the next layer. I put it on to boil. Several minutes later there was a burning smell. Yep, I'd forgotten to put water in the sweetcorn pan.

Back to Christmas Eve 1988, my first married Christmas, I carefully boiled up the giblets in preperation for the turkey gravy along with onion, carrots, peppercorns & bouquet garni then sat down for a glass or two of sherry ;) The time came to pour the stock through a sieve into a bowl which I *thought* I'd placed in the sink............ You've guessed it - the bowl wasn't under the sieve so I poured my carefully cooked giblet stock straight down the sink :rotfl: :rotfl: I've never lived it down!!

I have a habit of putting things to cool down in the microwave, out of the way............then forget about them & wonder why I don't have very much on my plate :D

Three times lately I've gone food shopping, only to find, after I've gone through the checkouts, that I've left my wallet at home

This happened back in the days when I thought eating well meant buying the most expensive ready meals.

I got home from work and took a ready meal out of the freezer. The instructions said remove the tray from the box, pierce the lid and microwave for 20 minutes.

So I took the tray out of the box, pierced the lid, threw the box in the bin, put the tray in the fridge and put the microwave on high for 20 minutes.

Came back to the kitchen 20 minutes later to find the microwave all black inside and completely dead.
