Shoes... I can only wear leather. I bought some (seriously reduced/to me expensive) shoes about 15 years ago. I think I paid about £20 and they were originally ticketed at £50. Anyway - soft Italian leather they were... fabulous. Court shoes for work.
I did, stupidly, pay a fortune for a pair of shoes two years ago. I think they were £100, but I was desperate/spotted some just like I wanted, at £40 - so I got them. Trouble was, I also bought stockings - and the darned two couldn't be worn together as the shoes were 4" mules, so feet were flying out of them with every step.
For the lads, 4" mules: http://cdn1.iofferphoto.com/img/item/251/344/77/4_inch_nude_and_clear_mules.jpg
But mine weren't like that....
So, I've got some great shoes, that I can only wear "for best" and indoors, when I am not wearing stockings. So I've worn them for about 1 hour so far in two years.
Apart from that one extravagence (urgent/wedding need), my £20 shoes were the most expensive ever (and lasted me about 6-8 year) and now I'm all about £3 fake crocs0 -

It could do with a trim I suppose. I'll get round to it sometime.
For LIR bra strap level is somewhere below her waist - my mental image of you has just completely changed and now involves watermelons
:rotfl:You've misunderstood. Read her post carefully. It looks bra strap length because it is curly. However, if straightened out to its actual length it reaches her bottom.I think I may be more MSE than some on here - taking the DDs pink lunch box is fine and failing that a Sainsbury's carrier bag will do just as well. Sometimes I wonder if I am cut out to be a management consultant...
I'm with you on the "carrier bag will do". I don't mind pink lunch boxes but draw the line at ones with Disney princesses on (assuming a carrier bag is available).Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Proof if ever I needed it, that I need to read this thread more carefully in the future. I love its randomness, but this is a really funny sequence:ruggedtoast wrote: »I must say, my interest in this thread went up considerably with all the mention of bra straps.lostinrates wrote: »I have a BArbie one. DH won't use it though.:rotfl: Mine is quite manly, will he consider this? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I don't pack sandwiches as I don't like them all that much. Soggy bread doesn't do it for me so I'm always doing salads/leftovers, bits and bobs.
A carrier bag tumbling with my lunch would be rather odd.0 -
Shoes - I have two pairs of heels, one set cost me £6 in the sales about 4 years ago (could be more but def not less) and the other pair cost me £2 last year at a charity shop when I went to my parent's caravan for the end of season party and realised I had left my shoes at home.
I also have one pair of trainers, £8 with student discount about a year ago...I live in them but they need replacing as a hole is developing on the right one.
I think I would have heart failure if I had to spend more than £20 on a pair of shoes and that is nothing to do with my economic status now, I have always been like it (much to now ex hubbies annoyance when he wanted to buy £60 'fashion' shoes for men which lasted 5 minutes)
I am an absolute mare to go shopping with, especially clothes or shoe shopping and although it may appear a good trait to be so penny conscious, it can be seriously annoying for others. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I buy Loakes Oxford Brogues. £89 a pair from a place just off Bow Lane. They last about 8 years although they need a new sole every couple of years.
In Aus they cost $600 a pair!!!!0 -

I gasped at the price of them in Milan too. I did point out to some of dh's colleagues that buying overpriced if nice English shoes while in the home of world famous shoes making and leather goods was really rather odd.0 -

Generally I don't have shoes reheeled as the cost of reheeling them is often more than I paid for the shoes new.0 -
I find it hard to find shoes that fit, so once I get some, I have them reheeled again and again until they're completely worn out.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
