I was thinking it might be huge financial deal even before the ad agencies started pulling out - could it be another BP moment for the company? And I do believe it happened but I suspect the senior people would have done their utmost not to know what the sources were 'journalistic protection of sources and all that' - look at the lengths paparazzi will go to to get pictures - compared to that sitting in an office trying to hack answer-phone pins sounds pretty straight-forward and easily paid for with a couple of scoops.

Unfortunately of course every excess like this results in the press freedom to investigate legitimate stories being reduced.

Is anyone else looking at the typical contradiction in the response of the NOTW to the ongoing hacking scandal? Usually, the papers jump up & down with their expose screaming that the buck stops with the prime minister, or CEO. Here however, we have the papers CEO & owners blaming the minions who worked below them.

I cannot for the life of me see how Coulson (david Camerons ex adviser!) can continue to claim he didn't know. Nor can Rebekah Wade. To be honest, I'm starting to wonder if Rupert was in on it.

News Corp will struggle to come out of this with much integrity. Nice to see some of the multinationals pulling their advertising etc though.

I filled up the hire car yesterday. A hundred bucks! F*$%!!!!!!

Sixty five quid to fill a Ford bloody Focus. When's the riot? I'm up for it.

I guess nobody can afford to fill up the petrol bombs.
Quit your whining. The price has gone DOWN! I noticed yesterday it's "only" £1.38/litre at my cheapest petrol station for 20 miles ... and when I last filled up there it was £1.41.

You can look up your cheapest here: http://www.petrolprices.com

Highest in my town is £1.44 (but there are only 3 petrol stations)

Article: The Solar Panel Myth http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/article-2011540/Energy-experts-slash-estimates-household-savings-using-solar-panels.html

Solar panels that cost up to £16,000 will knock just £70 a year off household bills, which is almost half the original estimate, energy experts have admitted.

Environmental advisers the Energy Saving Trust (EST) has cut its estimate on how much households could save on their electricity bill using solar panels from the previous £120 a year.

It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

My Dad's delighted. He's been ranting on and off for years about the NOW tactics, their "sting" campaigns, and general dodginess.

I agree, I can't see how Rebecca Wade can investigate herself. the whole thing stinks to high heaven.

And that's before even starting on the Met police angle - that is rotten, too.

Of the timing, or of the section, or of the booking it?

I approve of the possibility of sections. Without the emergency type, I'd have died before birth.
