I also think that my Bar Vocational Course (the year long thing before you do pupillage, after university) is a diploma of some sort. Mind you, that was a 3 week course crammed into an academic year....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

The thing is, while there have always been proper Diplomas around .... the term has, imho, been mis-used by people who want to get bums on seats.
It's a bit like President... now, the President of a country or a company might be quite important .... but when you end up with President of the Litter Picking Group, it's meaningless, but they've bigged it up.
And I think this has happened to the word Diploma over the years.0 -
My limited experience suggests that the Army is pretty good at taking raw human material and turning it into something useful.
Nothing "fluffy" about its objectives.
Should we all have a chat about jury service and get 8 months in the slammer?0 -

Right. Going to write some !!!!!!!! to try to get this course. It's within the budget they said - what they never said was how one actually gets the funding, whether it's there, or whether there are other obscure (boxes to be ticked) hoops.
So I'll email to say: DIZ 1 PLZ THX0 -
Done that now... let's wait for the rejection... the hoops to be put out.0

One of my very dearest friends is preparing to go somewhere you don't want dear friends to go with the Army. Its been the making of them. Have another officer friend who I would say has been infected most astoundingly with the worst sort of management speak. Its not fluffy, but its as good as.
I think its the making of many. I think it does a fairly good job at destroying some too. Looking about the people I know the average would show as positive, but when its bad its really bad.0 -

The woman was an utter moron. SRSLY, what's WRONG with people these days? Complete moron.... apart from anything else, would you WANT somebody involved in shennanigans to be part of your Facebook friends list??? I think not.
Couldn't agree more - stupid cow. she probably needs to be locked up for her own protection, in case she forgets how to walk and breathe at the same time....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

It's not very often you get a news story of such breathtaking stupidity, but this is definitely one of them. I was once on jury service with a bunch of people who were desperate to reach a verdict so they could go home and watch Corrie. I was the contrary b1tch that made them go through all the evidence. NDG you'll know better than me, but is such behaviour and lack of respect for the duty commonplace? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
