stop talking about picking veg :(

i am having some leaves with my salad for lunch but nothing else yet. the toms desperately need to go into the ground but it was blowing gales and i need to buy another tonne of topsoil (but the MOT wiped all my money out until I get paid) etc etc

no pea shoots as the bloody things won't germinate as it's too dry and hot. might have some baby peas and still haven't planted out climbing beans and goldensweet mangetout. might have radishes if i keep remembering to water them...

    I've been Money Tipped!
I, and visiting baby, just ate the first four strawbs. Only alpines mind. There is a very heavy crop of biggies on the plants, but still green.

Very brave of you to give a visiting child strawberries - did you have some anti-histamine and an epi-pen to hand?

PN there is a piece on the BBC about a 4G trial in Cornwall - of any use to you?
No, it's 3 miles away, one village really. And it's in the autumn. I should be gone from here by then :) Maybe I should apply for the dongle, but I'm outside of the catchment area really.... but "just in case".

Okay, that was plucked from the internets, I admit :o

Toms are flowering, but don't seem to be happy chappies in the windy weather we had lately. Same for peppers (2 Habaneros and 2 red cayennes...I think).

    :p
All my toms are staying in the greenhouse. I think the tallest is only somewhere between 6-9 inches. I did plant everything late this year...:o

That's no way to talk about my DW..... and anyway, it's me that grows the veg! :p

Yep, I have lotsa toms, but they are all still as green as an FTB on a shared equity scheme. :( My first cucumber will be pickable at the weekend though. :D

On some greenfingered threads there are peeps boasting about eating their first 14" cucumber of the year!

Beans are going ok here. I have planted out the peas and they seem to be ok. But I do need to ask - I've set up the bamboo canes, do I need netting on them for them to climb? I thought they'd grow up the canes like beans, but they seem to be growing sideways!

Can you password protect the registration page? So if anyone wants to register, they have to email you?
It's more complex than that. I never wanted to run a forum, ever. They're a pain in the butt and suck up too much time. I put it up for one day when MSE was to be shut. I grabbed the first bit of free forum auto-install software I found in the control panel... and people do have to put in a password and I've even set it in the past so I have to authorise new members.

But forums are a right royal pain in the butt, unless you're just doing one and you've got all the time in the world to be able to practically guarantee you can tend to it daily.

So I actually have zero interest in it :)

Yeah, I thought you were supposed to wait until the little un is about 5 with stuff like strawberries?

Typical modern thinking ... if it chokes you call an ambulance. No need to think ahead.

I was up all night, got woken up at 4am as there was a problem with one of the olds... they were making odd noises and couldn't be woken up. So I had a look and dialled 999 ... and the little men spent an hour bringing them round, then another 40 minutes trying to get them to be incoherent. In the end they carted 'em off to hospital. Then there were a couple more phone calls from the hospital, then I had to go and collect, which is a 40 mile round trip.

Absolutely kn4ckered... and told off as I didn't pack glasses in the suitcase and didn't pack the morning meds .... I have no idea what meds they take, the whole "meds area" was a complete bizarre cocophony of boxes and pills and random bags.... I just swept the whole lot into the open case and zipped it up and chucked it in the ambulance.

    Bl00dy ungrateful I say.
