Sounds like you can just walk out in either the Smithfield or Spitalfields area with DH and see what takes your fancy. I wouldn't take him somewhere he's already been though (if he already goes to Smiths), that wouldn't be special.
well, I know about smiths. I'll have to craftily ask if he's been to the others....he likes surprises.0 -

On greenfingered, it seems that everyone got out there planting a lot earlier than I. Looking at their photo's of flourishing gardens & flowering plants, I feel slightly inadequate with my measley stalks and the like.:o
I have green tomatoes, but only on the weird wild variety from some experimental breeding prog. Some of my peppers are about 40cm tall now, though. Both in a poly with no doors.

I have some spray based on soap/fatty acids which seems to work well, but it comes at a ridiculous price. I was thinking I could make my own with soft soap and a bit of veggie oil when this runs out.
How on earth do you get toms to ripen by May?0 -
Youngest finally saved/sold enough items to get the money for his 2nd hand Ipod touch 2nd generation this week...thank goodness for that, if I heard any more instructional videos on youtube, I think I would have thrown the laptop out of the window!
Peace now reigns, youngest is happy as he finally has a touch screen item, I'm happy because he is so intent on playing with it, he has finally stopped going on and on and on about Ipod's and middle son is happy as he now has a new (to him) Nintendo DS that youngest sold to him.
And it didn't cost me a penny....and they have both learnt more about the satisfaction of saving their pennies to get something they want, even if they had to wait that little bit longer. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I'll try soup and veg oil.
I dunno.....its a cold spot too. The rest haven't even flowered.0 -

Remind me Sue, is it the youngest or the middle son that is fascinated by business? If it is the middle one, sounds like you have another budding young entrepreneur in the family. If its the youngest, he's living up to my initial assertion that one day he'll run his own business very successfully. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Sometimes I wonder if you log in just to spite me...;)
I don't even have flowers on my toms yet. Like I say, I was late with the planting. he peppers have literally just sprouted, so a long sumer awaits. My onions are growing well, and it is with considerable relief that I can see activity where I planted carrots & beetroot. However, the little sprigs are still very small at this moment in time.
I have sorted my canes & planted out 20 runner bean plants, & they are starting to climb nicely (I have another 6 plants I am desperate to get out & no canes). I have planted out 20 peas as well (smaller than the beans - at risk from the dreaded slugs:mad: so I am having to lovingly protect them). Again I have 3 or 4 others that I need to plant out (less urgent, as they are still small.)lostinrates wrote: »we've eaten tomatos...twice!no more nearly ready though. Have eaten the entire first lettuce crop (very pleasing) and started on the second one today. Third crop has srouted, & I'll be planting the fourth batch when I get home this evening. I have planted some spring onions in a tray this week too - purely because I had the seeds.
All good things and all that...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
