I got a real shock when I went to my first ever public swimming pool. They had these things called changing rooms. If someone hadn't told me I'd probably have been standing on the side somewhere wrapping a towel around myself while changing. I'm not really an exhibitionist. Honest.

:) I used to be. These days impromptu wild swimming is more likely to be done in a t shirt than my skin.

Actually, when first watching this show the idea of a wet suit appalled (I like water on my skin arund my toes, in my hair) but perhaps its not sucha dreadful idea.

This was explained to me as the total reason for women to go to university. :eek:So when they have little kids they can work part time for decent money.

I didn't go to university but still earned decent money part time.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Anyone just watch BBC2 at 9PM? Avi is the sweetest money launderer you could hope to meet.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Actually I had planned to watch that but the phone rung, hence looking fr something else this evening.

The only bit I remember was the first chap, the older guy talking about love quite poetically, and two people living as one, spiritually connecting. was it good?

It was riveting. How did the camera crew get these people to speak so frankly?

I thought he was not terribly spiritual at all, and rather free with the gossip.

Avi, who is married still and was with his wife for 16 years of their 20 years marriage, said that he knew on his wedding night that she was not for him. Then they all got very coy about it. Is he gay? Certainly, I was left wondering what was in his cigarettes.

I don't watch soaps. Are they as good as this was?

I'm ridiculously excited. I just checked radio times on line and there is just starting a show about wild swimming. I take slight issue with them saying its a new craze...I've been wild swimming my entire life!!!
Lots of wild swimming down this way .... but it's not called wild swimming, here it's just swimming .... bl00dy townies thinking they invented something.

There are quite a lot of rock pools that fill with seawater when the tide's in, then stay full when it's out. And there are swims organised from one beach, round the headland, to the next beach. And other swims across estuaries etc. Loads of them if you want to dig them out and do them.

Me too. As a kid in Australia we used to swim in the local creeks a lot. Don't know if Gen could give us an update, but as a kid pretty much everyone went wild swimming over there. ETA, for that matter, we used to do it when we moved back to the UK. Tie a rope over a tree and swing into the water and jump, yummy....

It's still pretty common over here although probably less so than previous as Aussies seem to want to spend more and more time indoors, probably to avoid the sun.

In the Northern Territory after the wet season they even selectively cull the salt water crocodiles (salties) to leave some water holes free of salties so they are safe for swimming.

This sort of thing was a regular feature of my childhood, especially in Scouts. I remember making a dam one year in a small river to create a pool. It got pretty big after a week.

Since we got here, the closest I have come is taking the Generalissimos in a sort of lake that fills from the ocean at one of the Northern Beaches (Northern Sydney coast). I'll take the kids to where I used to swim as a kid in July if it's warm.
