Lots of sites just don't work at all with Chrome. I agree it is very quick though.

This site is opening multiple windows with Chrome as well as FF. What other browsers are there? Opera ISTR, but no idea how good it is.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'm using chrome with no problems. Links open in new tabs rather than new windows.

I meant new tabs. But every link opens a new tab. For example, if I want to go back to page 157 of this thread, that opens in a new tab, etc.

If I click on a link it opens in a new tab.

If I click on a page number it changes in this tab ie this page.

I clicked on the reply link next to your message -> new tab.
When I click 'submit reply', that will give me a new tab.

So, I will end up with 3 open tabs:
    The original thread still open
The message box with this message I'm typing still open
The thread with my message posted at the bottom

That's two too many for me.

Oh well, I spend too much time here anyway. So, if I don't respond much, you'll know that I've taken a break from posting and it's nothing anyone posting here has done.

    From chrome help:

" Download the Chrome Toolbox extension, click on options and uncheck the tab box that forces open link in new tab."

Thanks for your help. That's an interesting extension, containing all sorts of things I'd have expected to be in Chrome anyway. Wonder why they left them out? Unfortunately, the tab box wasn't checked in the first place. Hmmmmmmm?:cry::cry:

I don't get it why Chrome is a Google product but you can't get the Google toolbar for it (or couldn't last time I looked). I use FF for general browsing because I like having the search box right there at the top of the page so that it will open a new tab when I search for something (including image or product or whatever searches), and I like being able to highlight the terms I've got in the search box - haven't found out if Chrome can be made to do that. But I use Chrome for a couple of sites, and I even use IE sometimes - mainly for streaming video because I find it crashes less often than FF, but certainly not for anything where I want to open multiple tabs because it's too slow.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
