I 'got trapped' the other week, by accident, with the Ladies Who Lunch. I was in a very bijou part of the county, when I spotted a sign by a church that said "Coffee Morning". Oh, I thought, church/coffee morning... I'll go in there for a cheap coffee and slice of cake - and in I went. Having entered, I was committed..... got my coffee (50p) and was suddenly asked to join everybody else at a large communal table. Biscuits galore "Help yourself to biscuits". This is the exceedingly wealthy ladies' church coffee mornings group, along with their rather attractive Spanish ex-banker church helper.... had to 'big up' the writing thing when asked what I do.... but I got nods of approval from the ladies who were obviously in charge. Had to 'be polite' and stick around for about 30 minutes in the end0

And let's face it, I'll never be posh, nor have taste
I claim no taste, just want something I like in my bathroom....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I was beachcombing and two 'terribly nice' ladies were sitting on a rock with a lovely mutt.... and as I was scavenging near their feet I felt it appropriate to say something about the dog.... which opened up a conversation.
Randomly, after 2-3 minutes, one said to me "Oh I do like your shoes, where did you get them from?" .... bit of an embarrassing moment. This area is all £1million houses and these ladies were exceedingly well spoken..... "Oh ... these old things .... er, about 10 years ago in Hawkshead, in the sale, cost me £8.... I just use them for beachcombing". They kind of zoned out then and it was clear the conversation was over and I shuffled off.
Maybe until that point they accepted me as one of their local "eccentric, but worth millions" types
Maybe one of them had farted or something? Sounds like it was an ok conversation.
In an awkward silence the other week I told a client I'd had a dream about beetles.....she looked a bit perplexed.
what is ''hawkshead'?
I looked at some Conran espadriles in La Rinascente before coming to my senses. with espadrilles authentic (and cheap) is better. Then the dog can chew them and you don't cry.
My most worn shoes ATM are some orange plimsols bought from Tesco last year. They are comfy when my feet hurt and flexble when I trip over my own feet/have to drag a leg. They have no fastenings for when I can't bend over. They also ave a few holes in them now...hope I find something similar this year.:D0 -

well it is very close to the arsenal training ground - they hit us moderately hard so it would have been hard not to realise but they didn't even sort of slow as if thinking about stopping - presumably it was someone who didn't want the publicity. The MID database says they are insured. I hope they get charged with failing to stop.
It also says it's a BENTLEY CONTINENTAL FLYING SPUR
Are you sure it's the Arsenal ground you were near?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Arsenal training ground he said, nowhere near to the Arsenal ground.
PN's facebook idea is a good one. Just change your status to "Anyone know who drives ......"

Pimperne1 has started an interesting thread on average asking prices by town - I turned it in to a game - guess first then see how close you are:

Been looking at the damage on my car and having rubbed at the scratch and the rain taken off some of the black paint it is almost certainly not worth claiming (small dent on wheel arch and broken glass in mirror) for but I guess as it was a 'fail to stop' and I have reported it to the police I had better tell the insurance co and wait for the other driver to put in a massive claim and suggest I hit them - hopefully their failure to stop will go against them...as they drove off I tried to follow in case they were looking for a place to pull over out of the way but instead they disappeared sharpish - I should have stopped and taken photos of where I had stopped half way off the road but hindsight is a wonderful thing none of the shops admit to having CCTV covering the area but I bet they do.I think....0 -

I very much doubt they will be hence my rant at him....I then got a nagging from my mum who said it is his money to spend on himself and that he had worked hard for it.
Hmm, strange that, I remember getting exactly the same rant I gave eldest from my mum when I was his age and spent what seemed like a crazy amount on clothes. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
My point was that no Arsenal player would drive a car with that name.
