I have decided to try to encourage my kids not to spend all their money as soon as they get it. I have opened a "bank of Mummy" that will pay them interest if they save money in it. Accounts are only available to my own kids (so don't any of you start trying to apply) and I am offering a sky high AER. They get 1p interest for every whole pound that's in the bank for a whole week, Sunday to Sunday.

DS has put all his money in. DD wanted to keep some in her money box, so has decided to put in the whole pounds and keep the small change. The funniest moment was when I was explaining that she might as well keep the 68p because she'd only earn interest on the whole pounds, and her little face fell because she thought that only actual pound coins would earn interest and not, for example, a pound paid in as two 50p pieces or a collection of smaller coins. She cheered up when I explained it was the total that mattered, not which coins comprised it.

PS Thanks those of you who thought I was in my 30s, but I'm actually 41.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Very MSE. You'll probably save £500-2000 for not needing a new outfit, shoes, hairdo ... and the present, card, giftwrap, gift tag etc. Not to mention the hotel, travel and inevitable eating out/at the hotel.

And, you'll have a much better time digging a hole.

So Tesco DTD has ended; but the thread carries on.

One half accusing the other of overdoing it and being responsible for its demise.

The other half reckoning they can sue Tesco for withdrawing the offer without sufficient notice.

Big Fat Gypsy wedding on TV, but it just looks a rehash of the wedding bits of the first series.

I saw earlier today two postings that looked like they were the two matching halves of a dilemma.

One saying they'd bought a camera, got it home and it was the wrong one in the box - worth £300 more - should they keep it.
Other one saying they'd started a new job and made a mistake and boss wanted them to make up the difference, is this legal; it was a camera and they gave the customer the wrong one.

Didn't look like a put up job earlier today... just got the threads for you as it's now progressed and people think it's a troll:

there is a nother scrap starting on old style.

I never quite get why we are considered ''meaner'' than the other boards. At least we argue over things worth thousands, millions, or billions not lamb offers.

For some reason I think you have had your birthday this academic year and are thus my contemporary - if you are the year above then you were probably at Oxford the same year as my sister.
    I think....
