The old's car died today; took off to hospital in it (didn't tell me/refused a lift from me).... and wasn't seen again for 4 hours. Some pipe's bust and the journey home was made stopping off 4x to fill up (including knocking on a random villager's door begging for water). Not ideal, alone, just been told "the news", then having that trek home. Broken car's a right shambles, garage said it'd cost about £300 to fix, so no point doing that.
So I took a "round robin" trip to all places within 10 miles that we could think of that'd flog cheapo cars. Result = not many. Bought one though, it'll do. 06 plate, low mileage, fits in the garage. Job done. Pick it up next week some time.0 -
Sue, can you shame the ex into coming and fixing it?
You can disappear for the day when he comes to fix it.
Disney Paris wont do, it would really work for all the brats but my mother hates the whole idea. It was my first suggestion.
She said, no on you all go you will all have a wunnerful time, I will be fine at home.........
Yeah right.
I cant see us doing center parcs either. Dont they do everything on bikes?

What sort of thing does your Mum like? Look into the Barcelona thing, its trendy (for brat1), you can do plenty of interesting things while sitting down such as go on the cable car or take an open top bus tour (for Mum) and its got Port Avventura down the road for the young'uns. Just don't stay in Sitges. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

If you stay at the Disneyland Hotel (the best one there) then you get to overlook the park. There's a long thread on the overseas travel board all about the do's and don'ts of getting there and the people giving advice are very friendly. You can put the girls in Fantasyland all day (little ones are quite happy there without even going to other parts of the park) and your Mum can sit and watch them.
If that's too active, then somewhere fairytale-ish and beautiful... There's Portmerion in this country, Sintra in Portugal (mix with some bucket and spade activity), or you could go to Port Aventura in Spain and double it with a beach break in the area.
These I will look into.
Portmeiron, thats Cornwall? Isn't there a really posh hotel there?
I think the brat and I did a weekend there years ago

Unfortunately, ex hubby lives over 400 miles away and the chances of him coming down here soon are less than the chance of me winning the lottery. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

My mother likes to shop
TBH they all like to shop.
The brat will do culture if she is forced and as long as she can get togged up of an evening. She is is very bright but still a tinker at heart.
I really want things to be different for the girls.Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
Our holidays used to be a cheap caravan, in a farmer's field, with a small wooden shed next to the caravan containing a chemical toilet. Gas mantels in the caravan and it was a bonus each year if the caravan didn't leak (I can remember three where we were moved as the roof leaked and it rained a lot when we had holidays).
In the daytime we'd get up, make sandwiches and head to the beach. That's where we'd stay all day, every day. We'd have chips once during the week and mum grappled with a Fray Bentos pie at least once in the week (they were the height of posh cooking).
We never went anywhere that cost money, so no theme parks or anything. We'd just swim, or dig in the sand. If it rained we'd be dragged round a town getting wet, or we could just sit in the car in the car park looking at the wet beach.0 -
Exciting news on the home front. The 6y/o Generalissimo has been at tennis camp all week and won (I think) his age group award. I'm a very pround Generali and he's a very chuffed Generalissimo.
Blimey, good for him!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
OH and Isaac pushed off to Israel yesterday - they took the night flight there, and are flying back overnight on Sat, arriving at my parents' house on Sunday morning. Rather them than me with the nightflights, though! So this morning, I got up, had breakfast and a nice cup of tea, slightly bemused that I wasn't making a packed lunch / wondering why Isaac takes 20 minutes to put one sock on / other amusing child-centred things. And this evening, I played my netball game, and stayed as a fill-in for a second game who were missing a player, then pushed off to the pub, where the rest of my team were.
And tomorrow, I can sleep as long as I like!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
