I have drycleaning. Not often. ATM I have a big sack of things to dryclean when we have some spare money.....;) hopefully next year.
I'll tell you this as it's in my memory bank .... I believe you can get "sheets", like a wet wipe, which you chuck into a tumble drier with dry cleaning - and it gives them a freshen up. I've not looked into it as I've never had a tumble drier, so the information's of no use to me.

I think there might also be sprays, but these might require a tumble drier too.

I have a top I bought about 2 years ago that's dry clean only. I think I got it from TK Maxx. Lovely it is, worn it carefully twice, but it now needs cleaning. Although I might, one day, just wash it by hand in cool water and see if I get away with it - I think that works for some items too. I c0cked up when I bought it - didn't expect it to be dry clean, so only found out after I'd bought it.

Gen, please thank your friend too. I've emailed.

I should actually be writing my ''piece'' today. I'll do it before going out so I can tell dh loudly that ''I just sent that copy in time today'' loudly. So it looks like I have a decent job ;).
You need to tell us more about this. Who're you writing for, about what, how often, how many words.... and, of course, PM it to us nice people so we can read it :)

Unless it's about chickens, don't PM me articles about chickens as the mere mention of you and chickens instantly brings to mind that visual of you nekkid at the door waving at the passing neighbour in his tractor :)

Maybe she's not as posh as you. I don't buy dry clean clothes... and never dry cleaned anything. So I've never seen a dry clean bag. Put me in a foreign country and I might have done the same if I were 19-21 (I assume your au pair was 19-21 and not 50+)

I think I have a couple of dry clean clothes here, which I can't wear as they need dry cleaning - and I think it might be too expensive, so holding onto them until I can figure out another way at some future point.... I know there are other ways of cleaning them.

I've also just twigged you had £2,000 of SUITS!! Blimey ..... £2,000 would cover all the clothes I've owned in the past 15 years. I can't believe you had that much value sitting round in a bag!!! I'd be worshipping them in a shrine if I owned them.

You need a good suit to work in some jobs in some companies. It was 5 suits, all bought in the sales. 3 from Austin Reed and 2 from Selfridges. I was very adequately compensated for buying them.

Only three hundred words a month. Totally off anything I normally talk about and anonymity is required.:o (edit: if it were 600 it would be easier, but its v. good practise, being to the point. Not something I'm good at. As you might have noticed. )

When I worked, I used to find that the women who were "just working for fun" and didn't need the money, would spend all their money on posh clothes/hair dos.... their flash car and fuel was usually funded by some rich husband. And they'd have the "better jobs". I figured if I could afford to spend on clothes what they did, for a few years, I might get promoted too.... but it seemed that being an airhead in designer labels was a big fat tick box when it came to getting better jobs.

My favourite suit of DH's was from selfridges. dirt cheap as it was altered to fit someone similarly short and square and short armed. :) Its hard to get suits in a short square in UK.

You need to be writing ahead if you can. So write the next two months in advance, or write a whole year's in one week.... gives you something to hand over in case life gets in the way - or something to just "improve" when it comes to the next deadline.

300 words is quite short isn't it.

I used to write a column about internet and online marketing for a business magazine once. Found it tricky to keep it brief as there's just so much to say! For the record, why don't I still write this: the magazine folded, the parent company was running at a loss and was sold off, I was made redundant (I'd only been there 6 months).

You should be able to claim if you have accidental damage insurance. I claimed (successfully) when our au pair put over £2,000 worth of suits through the washing machine.

She washed the contents of the dry cleaning bag!

I'm astonished that they paid out.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I can't write it in advance as its ''reactive''. Still, its not a lot to write, even in extremis.

I guess if they hadn't he'd have threatened to take them to the cleaners.
