Absolutely beautiful. Thought I'd mention it because there are so many dance lovers on here.
I was surprised to find how much I enjoy ballet. I never expected that. But I'm surprised that an evening of tango is not very repetitive? Rather like 5 minutes of riverdance is fun, whereas a whole evening is something I'd go to enormous lengths to avoid. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Web cam in MIL's living room. I was vaguely thinking of installing one in her living room and one in our kitchen, so she can see us and we can see her. With microphone and speakers. Can anyone recommend software for this, please? I think Skype may do it, but that would require some intervention from MIL if the connection drops, or whatever. Is there anything that's pretty automatic? Also, anybody have any idea what the data usage is likely to be?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

One of my best best possesions are a pair of vintage plastic lamps. You'd hate 'em but I adore them. My mother bought them as a moving in gift when she found put my father was going to get them for us (separation leads to outbidding for childrens' affection) because DH and I wouldn't buy them because they were too expensive.....they were REALLY too expensive....anyway...to day big dog knocked one running to the front door to protect me from the dangerous door knocker and inevitably it broke.
Luckily the damage is mainly at the back and low down. where do I take this sort of thing for a quality repair?
n.b. never get a dog.
Try these guys:

I have never used them and have no personal or professional connection with them. A friend of mine believes they can help. He also thinks you're better off replacing than repairing but that is your choice.0 -

You darling! I'll email them. Find out how much it will cost. Don't think I can afford to replace and a good repair might be as much.Have thought about claiming on home contents insurance though...

You should be able to claim if you have accidental damage insurance. I claimed (successfully) when our au pair put over £2,000 worth of suits through the washing machine.
She washed the contents of the dry cleaning bag!:eek:0 -

I think I have a couple of dry clean clothes here, which I can't wear as they need dry cleaning - and I think it might be too expensive, so holding onto them until I can figure out another way at some future point.... I know there are other ways of cleaning them.
I've also just twigged you had £2,000 of SUITS!! Blimey ..... £2,000 would cover all the clothes I've owned in the past 15 years. I can't believe you had that much value sitting round in a bag!!! I'd be worshipping them in a shrine if I owned them.0 -
I have drycleaning. Not often. ATM I have a big sack of things to dryclean when we have some spare money.....;) hopefully next year.0

Gen, please thank your friend too. I've emailed.
I should actually be writing my ''piece'' today. I'll do it before going out so I can tell dh loudly that ''I just sent that copy in time today'' loudly. So it looks like I have a decent job.
