fc: if you're around, I'm so sorry, I know I have a PM to reply but I haven't got there yet. At the speed you're moving, you've probably already decided....
...
Don't worry...and yes we did decide to do it and I researched those involved (named on the site link), samples went and we'll wait and see.
I am guessing you got back into the UK with no probs too?
Anyway...anyone fancy some factory tales?
Don't want to just launch into an essay on 'FC's hunt for more good factories' and send everyone on the thread to zzzzzz.
Also, I accidentaly uncovered a grant scam recently (and am not too worried about posting a few details on here) but I am not sure how to whistleblow it...I mean who do you call?0 -

Sorry lir - only just saw your post about cars. Again like Lydia, I don't think anyone will be coming round to quiz you about cars. Even if the question was answered in a way different to how it was strictly intended I would think that seeing as you answered in the way you thought correct after careful consideration there could be no problem.
When Census Collection proper starts, the focus is definitely on getting forms sent back rather than on checking what people have put.0 -

Thanks anyway nikkster! You can't be here in call for us! It is a shame, because this should be useful and interesting stuff, but it ain't because of the round holes.0 -

Then and again, the data is all pooled together for small areas for use in upcoming years (planning facilities etc), so I can see why there is so much multiple choice (although I agree it is so restrictive - and who wants to fit a specific category anyway?!). When inividual data is released in 100 years though, definitely its a shame that so much information will be lost.0 -
Eldest got most annoyed with the religion question....apparently nothing really suited him and I took offence at what he thought was the closest (how on earth I have such an anti offspring I will never know)
Mum got annoyed with dad as he downplayed the problems he has and put down his health (and her health) was excellent and that he only needed care for 1 to 2 hours....the tippex came out.
My wedding day.....we purposely set a date for a year to the day of when we started organising it (17th March) to give us enough time to pay for things and be generally relaxed about everything and then I set about being the budget queen.
My day was pretty much all I had dreamed of, horse and carriage to the church I had always dreamed of being married in, a dress with a huge train, a long line of ushers, best man, groom and dad all in top hat and tails, the choir singing, the bridesmaids in matching dresses....and the bells tolling which could be heard all over the town.
It really was a dream day and being the sort of person to micro manage everything, it was all done to my specification....even the design on the wedding cake and all at the cheapest prices I could find, we saved thousands that way.
I could never get married in a register office, it goes against what I believe but that is not to say others shouldn't, both my brother (x2) and my sister did.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Yes, got back in (longgggg story) ok. And was going to give some more in-depth answers but it was along the lines of go for it.
And scam?
More tales please, it keeps me from feeling pain0 -

Well....an exciting (but scary thing happened 2 weeks ago) as we supplied a website owned by a huge UK chain who bought out a niche label last year and want to retail other brands on their site. Small order but sold out in 2 days so then got huge order.
So huge we just gasped and said 'we no can do' in the lead time they wanted.
Have the £££ to fund it in advance (just) but all my current manufactuiring capacity is up to the max and they can do no more until my current dockets are finished (end April). Our margin is squeezed on it but as volume is big it's fine.
So, I have been visiting factories (UK) the past 2 weeks.
Having been trying to make in E Europe for the past 6 months I am now :wall:as it's all been a PITA and one govt supported scheme turned out to be not what it seemed at all (and the private company involved have now vanished withe grant cheque that was supposed to fund the advice/help) and Turkey, whilst had some cost savings, have issues with the trimfabrics I use (which are important) and the lead is just a bit too long.
Most of them still won't touch our quantities on 1st docket (500 followed by 1000 unit repeat within 2 weeks if sells well and we are happy to pay a premium for the smaller docket) over 8 - 10 styles. They all want min 5000 per style per colourway.
The ones that will do the quantities we require are the smaller set-ups and can't meet the lead time so we are kind of stuck.
So...OH has the great idea that we take on upstairs and set up our own production unit and we have been having heated debates (rows) on this for the last 2 weeks with me saying no way am I running a production unit of 12 staff and all the machinery, him saying what choice do we have?
Worse..the one I went to Friday, had a lookaround and saw them making garments for same company I am in liti with over a copyright issue.:eek:0 -
Ahh the census.
Youngest insisted he fill in his section himself, then proceeded to check every answer with me to make sure it was OK.
Eldest had already filled one in at uni, so wasn't bothered and told me to do it, so there is a real risk that the answers won't match. Last night he was going to staying over at a friends party, so that would be a third census form he appears on.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
