Yep, she's quite pretty also:
Sadly, she supports the Ferrari F-1 team, but hey...0 -

We are indeed living in interesting times, we're coming out of the worst economic downturn, in the worst shape, since WW2 at the same time as autocracies and theocracies face losing power relatively close to our doorstep and one of the most powerful countries in the world has been hit by virtually every negative force known to mankind with the exception of Godzilla. Arguably it is the best and most interesting time to talk economics.
The problem with a market like this is while the old rules still apply - markets go up and down, shortages or instability cause prices to rise, lack of demand cause prices to fall, inelasticity means we have to spend money on certain things leading to the pinch elsewhere - yet so much else about the current market is uncertain. It isn't like previous recessions, yet it is like previous recessions. What is very different and is something I'd never have expected to see, is that previous recessions - along with the instabilities and other problems we face - have never previously been played out in the arena of the internet. So whereas in the past we'd have read papers, watched the 9 o'clock news and read the Economist to find out what's happening, an increasing number of people read blogs and watch YouTube videos. Some of these are entirely relevant, some are total tosh and amazingly people seem ill-prepared to distinguish between them. Hence we have a lot of threads about silver ramping, the Bilderberg group, what the Rothschilds have been up to, etc. Mind you, I got a 1st in Economics and I haven't got a chuffing clue what is happening.
All of this is a great shame because there never has been a better time to talk about the economy. Nor with a better bunch of people. Mumble, Gen, Purch, Monkfish et al finance; Sir H understands the government; you, Dave, missk et al explain the educational angle; fc and Alan are among those giving a small business perspective; doozer, lynz, silvercar understand property inside out. Its that meeting of minds that is really rare and keeps me coming back. We just need to band together, post more interesting thought-starters and work as a group to drive out the tinfoil hatters. Don't give up on us yet jelly...
Great post Viva, & nothing there disagreeable. FWIW I have no intention of giving up. You lot will have to put up with me a fair while longer.:DPasturesNew wrote: »What a scorcher! I envy you so much!!!!;)
Hobbycraft isn't too bad, but would agree it is over priced.
I'm going to come across all PN now, but I've never been in a Dunelm. In fact, I don't even know what they sell!
michaels & Viva, both of you post stuff which is thought provoking. I can honestly say that there are posters like yourselves who's avatars I will scan threads for to decide the worthwhileness of reading them. To all other nice peeps, don't fear, the same happens to many of you. I use the above as an example. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Hm... yesterday there was a boring budget... today... there is pear tree in bloom. Yay! I know which one I prefer.
Went to the bank yesterday for a small business loan, but apparently these days you have to dance round the church wildershins thrice, and sacrifice to the great god Odin at Midnight on the winter solstice before they'll even consider taking your £25 fee to discuss under what terms they are willing to charge you for the privilege of refusing to extend credit to you. So a bit of a waste of time.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Government pressur on banks to support entre-preneurism (sp) is working well then? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Read about Dunelm mill only on MSE never seen one, never heard anyone real refer to it. Love Lakeland. Like TT, prefer excitement in the garden atm. About to bath a dog or two despite being cream crackered. Drove a transit today I think for the first time, why are the handbrakes SO low in vans? One of my chickens has a limp. She's PN's favourite one...she of the slurry pond.0

Totally agree.

Garden report:
Of the five bushes I planted last year, 3 have not survived the winter and the other two don't have any leaves.:(
Cherry blossom is on bloom- though don't expect it to last long.
Bird station gets more visitors every day. I was thinking of removing it for the summer to encourage the birds to fend for themselves? What are they all. A lot HAS died over the winter...but the rest might just be not awake yet. I have three mock orage blossoms and was going to turf one out but notice today a teeny tiny bud ....couple of weeks after the others are greening up. The sticky bud have started to burst open...not properly, just splitting their sticky cocoon. I love those trees. And the apples have enthusiastically burst into green bud,but only just. The willow opposite my sitting room window, and all its neighbours, are resoundingly BROWN. The one down the road is almost in full leaf already. Don't despair yet.0
