    I'll pop into Tesco tomorrow.

It's propane, do they work with propane?

Yes, CO is CO whatever gas it's produced from.

The deal may not be in all Tesco stores - hope you're not disappointed.

Can't wait for the house warming!

Did you check there is a phone line or 3g signal?
That'd be 5-star luxury compared to what I've gone for. Studios/annexes in people's gardens seem to have some kind of snobbery premium for some reason, which is odd as they're tricky to shift as most people don't like living near their landlord (an EA told me when I asked to view an annexe once and enquired why it hadn't gone yet.... although the awful truth of it turned out to be that the annexe had clearly been an office at some point, with scratchy carpet tiles and that square/aluminium-framed suspended ceiling stuff)....

You can tow it ... and it's up a farm track :)
Probably pitch dark outside at night too, knee deep in mud and horse poo ... and surrounded by a wood. But the rent's as cheap as a 3-bed council house, so cheap as chips, so I can afford it.
    I think....

Congratulations PN. The place sounds right up your [STRIKE]street[/STRIKE] farm track.:)

Wheezy, that's not blight, it's blossom end rot:

My elm hedging arrived last night. I don't really fancy my chances of filling in the gaps in the established hedge with small plants, but I've got to try. :(

Yes, that's it and it was probably irregular water supply. You watered them pots on day 1 and end of day 3 they were bone dry again. And although about half the crop went bad, the other half was TASTY! :) Hopefully better results this year.
Plants grown with limited root space (e.g. in pots or growing bags) are most at risk of irregular water supply leading to local calcium deficiency in the fruits. Plants in border soil, whether outdoors or in the greenhouse, are less likely to be affected.

No phone line, probably couldn't get one fitted even... but yes, good signal :) I checked.

It's not. It's really inadequate. But it's affordable to somebody like me who doesn't claim benefits. Without my house-pot, I'd get some lovely top ups and could justify paying more in a proper home as it wouldn't be my money paying for it... but I pay my way and it's what I feel comfortable affording.

    :)

I'd have liked a "proper little 1-bed house, with a little yard and shed" but that's not going to happen unless I fork out about £200-300 more per month.

I'm sure I'm going to regret my decision, but it's made... and at least it's March now and not October :)

If it's that cut off, have you thought of getting a dog? You can keep it chained up outside, but it will still deter nasty people.

tomterm, I found your blog worth reading!:) Will definitely be returning to it. Keep us aware of updates...

davesnave, I'm wondering if that is what my toms suffered from last year (looks similar). I will read your link later when time is free-er. In case it isn't covered by the link you posted, would it just affect the fruit, or the whole plant?

    PN, congrats!:j

But then it ties PN to getting a place she can take a dog afterwards, I think ith no long term view it wouldn't really be a great decision to make atm.

PN, you can always move in the future.

If you are able to live off the work you do now rather than have a job would that really be your long term preference?
