I saw gravy on a chalkboard menu outside a chippy the other day; I had to stop at a red light and it was beside the road.

Chips/curry sauce -or- chips/gravy for a deal price of £2.25. I think I'd rather stick with what I know (curry sauce) than ruin/lose £2.25 if I get the wrong thing!

I'm obviously a demanding customer, but I'd ask for a taster of the gravy, then choose. Depends how busy they are. I've certainly handed my chips back before now and asked for them to be cooked some more. I mean, £2.25 is a lot for chips, and you're entitled to some service. ;)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I signed up to day to host foreign students/teachers on tris to my nearest town.....presuming we have hot water working the first stay could be in April. It doesn't pay very well round here, less than half what I used to get in London YEARS ago and I'm trying to work out after taking meals, petrol (you have to drop off and collect) into account (Linen washing etc is no big extra deal for short stays once a month) its worth it. I'm not sure it is. :( I think it could be fun otherwise.

I used to organise those round this way. From memory it was about £11-12/night, provide breakfast, packed lunch and hot evening meal (2 courses) and collect/deliver them to the coach each day.

Anyway .... I've made a mistake. I don't like it ...... so, looking to move again, say 2-3 months. Lots of reasons... but I won't settle. Nuff said.

Maybe I'll feel able to say why once it's all behind me.

That's such a bloke thing! What have we married? I love mine dearly and know you do yours too, but the way 'man brains' work is at times a mystery to me.

Other way round in what was my marriage. I was brought up by parents who were still living by the "make do and mend" attitude they had drummed into them during the war. Putting the lenses into the old sunglasses frames and securing with bluetack is exactly the sort of thing I would do. Late-nearly-ex was quite different. He was very good at DIY in a conventional sort of way, but he never had my ingenuity for making use of what happened to be available without spending any money.

So sorry to hear that, PN. I was really hoping it would work out for you. Here's hoping there will be a breakthrough for you soon.

Here's hoping for a breakthrough for Mrskool as well. I gather from a friend that the rules about that sort of thing are complicated and not always apparently rational, but you can get there in the end if you jump through their idiotic hoops.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I thought this place had no notice requirements, can't you just move out immediately?

Er... didn't know anyone could get less than five GCSE's... in my school they gave them away more freely than they gave you the comfortable toilet paper.
