Ouch. Hope your foot is better soon viva.

I have finished sorting the stuff in the spare room into piles for taking to tip, giving away, packing etc .... :j
... but the kids have totally trashed the kitchen and living room while I've been doing it.:mad::mad::mad:

The chaos in the playroom is the next major task. Stuff has been being dumped in there for far too long.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Thanks Lydia. Foot will feel fine in a few days. Unfortunately my embarrassment at having to call my parents when I'm a mature adult in my 40s and supposedly capable of looking after myself, that will take a bit longer:o.

Racked with indecision still, I think I've decided to stick around this area for a year and give my "new hobby" a proper whirl. Dedicate myself to total subject immersion, learning, practising, get a website, try to sell stuff.... but so lacking in self confidence and all the "what if I'm useless", "it's already a flooded market", "nobody's buying stuff they don't need" doubts.

I am planning on entering into something that everybody and his dog can do - and nobody's paying out for these days - based on what .... hope? stupidity?

Am I mad? Or just insecure/doubting/lacking in any confidence?

To buy = nothing I like, prices need to come down, don't want to buy here
To rent = can't really 'work with' the spaces I can afford

I want to be here - and in the new region. For different reasons. Here is a bit cheaper rent wise, but there has more potential opportunities. I should move I think .... or should I? So hard being "just me" all the time. I have no 'sense of place', which doesn't help. No roots.

I could suggest to you here that you chose to call them/rely on them, because they were there. What if you'd been single and alone... you'd have HAD to sort yourself out (or die I guess). What'd you have done if you were me? Not that you'd catch me up a ladder in the first place, dangerous things they are! Brush and a big stick, that's the way to paint.

I got told off by my dad for getting up a ladder with no shoes on. First rule of climbing ladders apparently. I thought the first rule was make sure that it doesn't fall over, but for today's lecture, it was definitely to wear shoes. Ironically I had the big stick as well, but there was a bit that I wanted a closer look at. That'll teach me.

Still on the postive front, I now have a matte artex ceiling, not a shiny one. Not perfect, but much more palatable hooray!

You can enter any market Pastures, providing you are sure that you have an advantage. Markets like jewellery making have low barriers to entry. They don't cost much to get into, require relatively little training and the up front costs are quite low. Unless you find a new market that meets those criteria and get in before anyone else, then there will always be plenty of competitors.

But, that doesn't mean you should give up. Some of your advantages over your competitors might for example be:
    1) You will have a better website
    2) Your website is likely to be better positioned and easier to find
    3) Because of your precise nature, you will have researched the market first and worked out what is selling.
    4) Also because you've been frantically researching, you'll know the best places to buy your beads, findings etc, so will have a price advantage for raw materials over other small players (though not over bigger players with bulk buying power).
    5) Because of your attention to detail, you have a "Cornish" story to tell and some interesting product concepts that nobody else will have to offer.
    6) Because of your precise nature and wish to get everything right, your items will be really well made.

Of course, only you can decide what's the right thing to do and you should never feel pushed by us, but we can see your positives more than you can sometimes.

If it makes you feel better I do that two. I love being barefooted. New Age type friends tell me its because I need''grounding''. I think I just like wriggling my toes and hate blisters.

Sometimes, just reading the completely random nature of this thread resorts me to fits of giggles. Either a single post, or a little snippet of conversation over a small series of posts becomes significantly humorous(sp).:D

It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I'm about to be spoilt. DH has decided to cook supper and its not going to be Pizza or pasta. Hmmm. I don't know what it will be but I'm taking bets on it using at least 75% of my pan collection ;)

I hope it uses up some of that 5 kgs of Stilton he brought home. :)

eta: oops. well....its only two pans and still Italian....spinach risotto in one pan and some sole in the other pan There very unfair of me to suggest he'd make lots of washing up.

    I'm envious.

    I haven't eaten since lunchtime yesterday.:( & now I'm at work. :(
    And I don't finish until 11.00 and I'm starving...
