michaels, thrown in my tuppence worth.

I suspect other posters know you better than I, so don't know how much help it'll be.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

There is another forum where some of the 'nice' regulars go when MSE has maintenance - I can't remember who owns it but hopefully they will be along in a moment to PM you the link.

I'll send you the link. Its PN's site. Lots of people have changed their name over there so it gets very confusing!

Urgh, my back is killing me today. :( I'm sure its worth because of the weather. I decided not to bother filling haynets this evening (they are really bad things, much prefer to feed off the floor- but we use them because one of the horses pees on hay left on the floor) so have given them just enough to last till later (they'll be less likely to let madam pee on it if there isn't very much!) and I'll do nets tonight.

I've put the heating on this evening....so it must be MUCH colder.

I've occasionally popped in on Rightmove just to see what's out there and what the market has been doing in my area, even since I had my offer accepted on the house I'm buying (and nothing new has come on the market except a couple of houses I don't like anyway). I've just noticed that one of the houses I decided not to bother viewing has gone under offer again (having previously been under offer in October, December, and earlier in January).

It's a lovely house, but it's in a little cul-de-sac of four houses, all of which are squarely within flood zone 3 (greater than 1% annual chance of flooding), which is why I didn't bother doing more than a drive-by out of curiosity. What's worse is that the only way in or out of the cul-de-sac is across a bridge over the river, several feet lower than the houses, so by the time you were actually flooded out, you'd have long since lost access to get anything out. I guess they must keep having people pull out when they get their searches back. I feel sorry for the sellers, but I wouldn't touch the house with a barge-pole.

Sue - big congratulations on eldest's promotion to prefect, and on your TMA. I hope middle son is better soon. Keep us posted as to whether any of the rest of you catch it.

My good news of the day is that a wonderful friend came round this afternoon (my afternoon off work this week) and helped me declutter my spare room, and I took a load to the tip. :)

My bad news is that there's still far too much to do before I will be ready for removals quotes etc, and the letting agent people want to come round and take new photos for remarketing.

I've pointed out that I didn't actually have to give notice until 6th Feb, so they agreed not to come until after that (phew). They suggested Monday 7th, but I've persuaded them to wait until Tuesday 8th in the afternoon - they can take their pics in the golden few hours when the house is clean between my cleaner coming on Tuesday mornings and my kids getting home from school. :o
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)
