I'n back fro website-less pub. Been looking for number to call them and it doesn't exist yet. New business. It was, hic, very nice. A bit squeaky clean, a bit ''toomuch''. who heard of stainless steel bar in a country pub? And heated floors? (owner is not a European and it shows) but very nice, friendly, and not hideous. Hic.
We drank with people we already knew though. hic. I grinned at people and we were obviously being spoken about though. I don't know whether the new people or the new pub was more exciting.
You're making the effort to break the ice. Well done! If you are in an area where people don't often come and go, it will probably take some time to be accepted?0 -
Are you still living with M+D?
Why not rent a room somewhere instead that should be cheaper and it's only temporary afterall. 6 X £500 is a fair investment in yourself....and if nothing comes up, you could just go back home for a spell. It's right to be cautious and hesitant but nothing ventured and all that......can't you up your self employed income any more so you won't need to look for a job?
Is london not an option any more? Mind you, it's hardcore up here...I forgot how it buzzes one out....I have been back 6 months and haven't stopped buzzing since..........and I miss the sea really badly.
Renting a room isn't an option. 99% of people advertising rooms to let don't want somebody old enough to be their mother, who stays up all night and crouches in the garden with a cigarette and doesn't leave the houseAnd I have speshul issues that mean if I shared I'd have setbacks, I am needing to get away as I need my own space as I've gone into shutdown/hermit mode, I need to be able to do stuff the way I want to and when I want to.
I can up the self-employed, that's why I need my own space, so I can focus.... but while I can try, trying doesn't guarantee success.
London's off the radar now. Partly because my previous car was old and I didn't mind leaving it parked up for 3 months, but now I have one worth 6x as much so not keen on having it sitting around.... and, the offer of a flat disappeared and has never been spoken of since.
I don't want to miss the sea, I want to keep it close byExtended the search to +20 miles but that didn't yield much either.
I might make a "crazy offer" to somebody with a winter let. They want about £2300, I might offer £1500 cash up front for 3 months and they might just take it as it's a winter let so the market is limited for them as each day ticks by. Easter's late next year, makes an initial 3 month trip viable, without it being truncated by an early 'peak season/holiday weekend'0 -

Again, how things appear to people. I presumed she got upset because everyone was having a go at her for moaning that she would lose child benefit. Also, she went off in a strop when she was told she couldn't take it as well as she could dish it out.
That dust up was on 4/10/10 but she continued posting as normal for the next fortnight so I assumed she'd quit because of this.
Nice to see you back fc and glad Daisy and family had a good Christmas.Murphy was an optimist!!!0 -

I somehow got named in the whole CT thing, held up as an example by Gen .... I kind of kept my head down and said nothing.
Didn't mind being used as an example, but don't possess the communication skills to enter such an arena.0
