I agree...to a point. I belive books should have life too, but there is something sacreligious about dropping a book in the bath!
A lot that's a lot more sacrilegious goes on in our baths. Speaking of which the immersion thingy should be immersed and the water warm now.
Yes, viva,....they do obviously show they've had a bath, but they are readable and that fanned out look gets less bad when is on an overstuffed shelf...another book atrocity that we can never avoid here.0 -
:kisses: wageslave
Santa dropped a kindle off here this christmas.

Two days to admire all the new stuff and then it's wagons ho.....
Wageslave and her mini army off to the sales. It is like a sickness.
Two small girls clambering into a 4x4 screaming bargains nantie, bargains.
I feel I am teaching them all the wrong values.
So, what do you think of the kindle?Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
Here's a little tip for book people that anyone can use on a favourite (though not valuable) book. If you have left a book in the sun and the edges have gone very yellow, take an emery board gently to the sides to restore the book to its original colour, or a lighter yellow (depending on how bad the discolouration is). You can also use on small stains. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Love it. It's light, the eink is brilliant, no eyes squinting from the backlight. Amazing battery life.
I know it's tied into the kindle store and it doesn't support all the formats but it's the most perfectly polished e-ink reader out there. free 3g for life with this one so it's great when going overseas and you won't run out of books. Also means no spending £30 at Smiths at the airport :rotfl:0 -
I quite like yellow pages, but very few of my books tend to get them... I am more your classic book abuser... all I'm interested in is the information, I'll scribble in them, tear pages out to paste important sections into my notebooks, whatever it takes to use information in the book to the best advantage. And I believe all shelves should contain three times the number of books that should reasonably fit into the space provided.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

How legal is this? I know that there are legally available ebooks for free, but, on the other hand there are a lot of less legally available books too.
It really depends on what you download. Some of it is legal some of it isn't.
A bit like life really.
It is a choice thing.

But you're thinking about it, so it is only a matter of time...:D
I finished the Nick Mason book. I've started this to keep in with the "light reading" scheme I'm having at the moment:

Someone I knew was sat in a car, approaching a set of traffic lights, whilst lighting a "cigarette" the contents of which were not legal. After lighting said "cigarette" & having filled the car with plumes of smoke, he pointed at someone driving whilst talking on a mobile phone & yelled: "Look at that. That's f&^%$*g ILLEGAL THAT IS!!!!!"It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
