cashback without the hassle? companies offering cashback without having to post bills
came across a couple of sites that seem to remove the uncertainty of sending your bills in and waiting to see if they send you a cheque:
https://www.cityfones.com
offer automatic payments into your bank account - have some good deals upto 18months free line rental
http://www.dmcdirect.co.uk
ask you to bring in your 1st bill to their shop and pay 6months up front (they have shops in major cities)
seems this idea is much safer than hoping and wishing osps/e2save etc will send you a cheque
anyone had experience with these? good or bad? any thoughts?

From the CityFones T&CS:
"Any offers which state, free line rental or part line rental is via a bacs transaction, where you may have to provide proof that you have been paying the bills to the relevant airtime provider."
It doesn't sound automatic to me.
That said, their FAQ would seem to imply that it is an automatic payment. However, I am a little concerned about whether they can actually afford to pay the sorts of discounts that they are advertising - it's well known that 12 months free offers are costed on the basis that a not insignificant percentage of customers will fail to claim their cash.
Also...their website was only registered this month and their registered address simply brings up a restaurant in Leeds when I perform a net search.
I hope I'm wrong (as I'm all for auto-cashback deals) but alarm bells are ringing loud and clear with this one.

Yes, but the only details I can find for each O2 deal that I've looked at still refer to sending in bills. I'll need to have a word with one of my contacts inside Carphone Warehouse to find out what their latest auto cashback offer actually refers to.
This one could prove to be interesting but I suspect that it will only relate to a small subset of deals with relatively low levels of cashback.
The Link also trialled auto cashback with a £100 cashback offer a while back and even E2Save has briefly dipped its toe in this water, again with much lower levels of cashback on offer.
PhoneBoxDirect, Cool New Mobile & 3MobileFones seem to be the only retailer currently offering their entire range with dual cashback options - of course, with the auto cashback level set at about 40-50% of the manual cashback level.

i will phone cityfones tomorrow and see what their response is when challenged with the info...in their about us section they say established 1999. any views on dmc direct? presumably with lots of branches to visit should be more reliable. i know a number of people who bought from their leicester branch and reported getting the chequeback was easy just showing the first month's bill at the shop, and they pay 6 months to a year upfront0

update - dmc cashback:
http://www.dmcdirect.co.uk/dmc/index.asp
"At Discount Mobile Communications, on the majority of our mobile phone contracts we pay you the whole years cash back up front in one go. This saves you time and hassle every month, and essentially gives you peace of mind. There's no need to post us bills every month in order to collect your 'monthly' cash back. As soon as we receive your first bill we will pay you the full years cash back in one go."0 -
But there r no contract on which they r offering the whole year cash back upfront.
If you have seen one please point me to it.

I've bought several contract deals from DMC from their shop in Blackburn, last one was about 3 years ago. I can confirm they certainly did pay upfront for 12 months originally and then 2 X 6 months. Haven't used them recently becuase their deals arn't as good as hey used to be. But I certainly found them to be reliable and trustworthy. I think they have expanded to 10 or 12 other shops in major cities.0
