;39045658]Yes there is, multiple other applications. Winamp Classic will still beat it for resource intensiveness/playback quality/aftermarket plugins.

Foobar2k another modern example of what a real media player should be. However it's probably too advanced for a basic user like yourself.

Regardless of whether I accepted whatever message popped up, I shouldnt expect to have my music dragged all over my PC for no reason other than to suite itunes
You asked Itunes to rearrange your collection. You asked it to consolidate the files in your Itunes music folder. There's no other way for this to happen.

It's funny you call me the basic user when you don't understand the consequences of clicking on dialogue boxes without reading ;) I used Foobar 5 years ago, it's cool you're just discovering it, and now think you're a tech guru.

I'm sure Foobar is a real media player, but does it get songs / videos / books / podcasts / apps on my mp3 player? Does it have a store that lets me buy videos / music / apps / books? Does it sync everything to my device in 1 click?

Thought not.

I have a powerful computer; I don't have to worry about 'resource intensiveness'. Itunes is currently using 2% of my RAM and 1.4% of my CPU. Hardly pushing it, eh.

Maybe your PC is so old it can't handle Itunes or similar programs.
Time to upgrade?

• Call me sad but who has been had, all quotes from this thread by OP
right i never have any problems with computers but OMG itunes is an absolute nitemare
does sync not mean it syncs the iphone and pc so they are the same?
i have all my songs on my iphone but no longer on my new PC after a hard disk failure. Surely if i sync it should put them back on the computer?
what am i doing wrong before i cut the phone in half
the last time i pressed sync with an apple device it synced an empty itunes to my full ipod and wiped the lot
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=39000416&postcount=1
i clicked sync and nothing actually happens i vowed never to use my iphone as a ipod becuase i cannot stand itunes but i thought i would give it ago and with in 5 minutes it had me smashing my head agasint the wall.
will give that other software a whirl and see what that does
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=39001602&postcount=6
this confirms it then itunes is absolute pap

god knows how you cope with 600 songs i cant even get one track onto the iphone now its just doesnt do it
i even tried dragging it on to the phone in the menu on the side and it throws a no entry sign
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=39040564&postcount=26
Plus my quote from earlier
Surely it would be easier to get them from your back ups.

Thats no excuse for a badly put together bit of bloatware. Personally if I was mad enough to buy an ipod I wouldn't use itunes to manage it. I can get my music and movies cheaper else where and use a smaller faster and generally better put together program to manage it.
• I admit itunes did bug me in the beginning. My opinion has changed since owning a mac, i was skeptical of itunes and there were things i just didn't know how to do! I ploughed through and i learnt and cleared up my confusion and i can now say itunes has awesom potential for its users and I fully love the program.
I even tackled the information attached to each song with ease, okay so i havnt quite finished (70%) but its already looking sexy and neat! I know when my itunes is 100% correct and i synch it with my ipod or iphone i will just love the neatness and take full use of the different categories knowing there arnt three different spellings of one genre or artist.

Itunes suits my needs perfectly, gives me the tools to organise with ease and a equaliser to make use of my speakers and i just love how my mac has the volume, play/pause buttons.

Having all three (Mac, ipod, iphone) they totally kick !!! when used together. There's allot of advantages to having apple all the way, and damn do those little perks add up and make me glad to have united on the apple front for everything. Honestly didn't plan it!

I have used itunes for years - even when it was called soundjam mp and you had to pay for it. Learn to use it and know its limitations and its superb. I use itunes on a mac but also have it installed on 2 £400 laptops running windows and its slow and i wouldnt trust it to control my iphones/ipods. You need a mac or a very good high spec pc to get the best experience

600 albums !!! BTW

no it won't work , cause the software does not work like that . you can drag and drop to a playlist on the left hand side though .

anyway create a playlist call it whatever you like , then from your I tunes library drag a album or song to it .

the connect your i phone . click the device in the left hand side menu bar select the music tab from the device options and simply tell i tunes to sync to your created playlist to the I Phone .

that's it ! !!

this really is not difficult .

step by step guides

all that lot will take no more than 10 minutes to watch . watch it , learn to do what you need , instead of blindly hitting keys ect

The fact you praise iTunes defuncts anything you say subsequently trying to appear a technical type of guy :rotfl:

Slow pc? No, not unless you consider a core i7 920 d0 stepping & 6gig of ram slow.

recently I could drag an mp3 or mp4 to my ipod touch and it would synch. now you get a circle with a cross through it!!

don't know how I did it but realise now it synchs/adds only when you add it to your play list and reconnect your usb lead.

having bought a new ipod touch it added almost all the stuff I had on my previous ipod touch except some I had to add to playlist or re-download.

Adding apps is weird as you have to tick/untick a list.

I luv my Ipod Touch but stick two fingers up to Itunes!!

I've managed to install iTunes and a number of updates to it without installing Safari or Bonjour. Always seems to give me a choice. Funny, that.
You do have bonjour
