;39027628]It also messes your library up majorly if you've already sorted it manually.
How do you 'sort' your iTunes library manually?

I never said iTunes library, I said library, as in, existing music. You do know smart phones existing before the iPhone, apps existing before the app store and music existed before iTunes, right?

    OK, that's cleared that up.

With an existing library (of mp3s?) what did you do to get that library into an iTunes library, and what did it do to mess up the original library?

    I'll answer.

He asked iTunes to rearrange it for him. iTunes will happily leave your file structure in place if that's what you want.

Why someone would their songs all over their drives I have no idea.

yes I tunes can be annoying sometimes , but used right it is easy most of the time .

we have 6 Apple devices ( 2 classics , 2 Nano's and 2 Iphones ) and you don't just sync your entire library to all of them willy nilly . this is where Playlists come in .

i don't like some of my OH's music and vice versa but we store all our music in one library . plus i cannot fit all of my library on a Nano or Iphone . so solution is to create a playlist for each device . My Nano playlist is songs i listen to when working out at the gym for example . get your itunes set up first, then plug in your device .

i do think for someone who wants a few songs on there Ipod , a drag and drop 3rd party program might be better , but when you library consists of 600 albums , various Podcasts , audio books and you want to put Apps and Photos on your Iphone , Itunes gives you the control you need .

I agree, I sync my daughers ipod touch, my ipod touch and two nano's with my itunes. Each has different music, films and photo's etc. We just keep all our music in one folder, update the itunes library when we add more mp3's and sync different playlists to each ipod.

I've managed to install iTunes and a number of updates to it without installing Safari or Bonjour. Always seems to give me a choice. Funny, that.
Well bully for you. It's been a long long time ago that I installed it so maybe it did ask but I don't think so. Anyway I deleted all the spurious junk I didn't want (including iTunes as it happens) and won't be repeating the install under any circumstances as imo it's a crock.

There's probably tons of stuff on your PC that you didn't ask for.

It's alright hating Itunes; but there's nothing on the market that's better.

Yes there is, multiple other applications. Winamp Classic will still beat it for resource intensiveness/playback quality/aftermarket plugins.

Foobar2k another modern example of what a real media player should be. However it's probably too advanced for a basic user like yourself.

Regardless of whether I accepted whatever message popped up, I shouldnt expect to have my music dragged all over my PC for no reason other than to suite itunes
