I was on the way to work today thinking about the plan for the sealed pot and the sacrifices i was going to make.

I see the sealed pot as a physical respresentation of the money i can save with a little effort unlike the money on my internet banking which just seems unreal to me. If i can see something grow, then i'll be more likely to keep it going.
    • Ditching the daily Starbucks - £2 a day
    • £3 allowance for lunch. Take sandwiches to work = £3 in the pot.
    • Keep weekly food expenditure below £50. Any difference, goes in the pot
    • Ebay sales - go in the pot
    • Any lottery wins, go in the pot. I've won a few £10's of late which is a nice change.
Are there any other suggestions that i haven't thought of?

Try survey sites like onepol (I have just cashed out £40), or opinion world (I have just cashed out £10), or reward opinions (just cashed out over £30).

    Good luck :j

    Hi
I'm brand new and in quite a loy of trouble financially (nearly £20000). I have been in touch with the CCCS and am waiting for a budget/DMP so I suppose I am being proactive BUT when I spoke to the CCCS counsellor about maybe trying to save a bit each week to make extra payments she said it wasn't really a sensible thing to do as the budget they work out is supposed to be what you live on and you shouldn't 'go short' - so I think the sealed pot cahllenge is the only way to try and save a tiny bit. What does everyone out there think? I am here because I'm hoping for some support - my grown up kids are cross with me (I've always struggled with money and I guess they've seen too much) and I'm on my own.
Have pot - will put money in.

    Hi TUGRIN

Welcome to the thread Sorry you have so much money worries, but at least now you are on the right path and dealing with them. I would try and save a little each week if only for emergencies. Once you get into saving it,s amazing what you can do. There are lots of ways of saving on here and I am sure someone here will tell you the name of other forums that will help you. In the meantime enjoy being on here some of the people on here are a bit mad, not me , obviously but we are all here to support you

Well done on the weight loss Nicky. :T:TI know what you mean, even though I have stayed the same for the past 2 weeks. I am with the opposition WW, but we are fellow potters and fellow losers, so no fisty cuffs on this thread.;):rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks Footiemad! Have heard WW is really good too, I do SW because I'm one of those awkward vegetarians so the plan really suits me. Keep up the good work!!!! :T

    Morning everyone
Another 7 X £2 coins & 1 X 50p into the Summer 2011 fund. Also my regular £2 and extra coins going int my sealed pot when I get home.

I'm working the weekend AGAIN (YAY), the downside is when it comes to next weekend and possibly some time off I will have worked 42 days straight. I suppose you have to take the rough with the smooth

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and keep saving

  • Daisygogo - "Do you use quidco or something similar ? you could also pop any cashback savings into your pot ?"

Thanks for all the great advice. I don't do any of the Quidco or cashback savings stuff. I'll have to look into this and see how it works. Is there a thread on the site that might have this helpful information?

LuckyCharlie - "DH means Dear Husband or Darling Husband and I can think of others:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"
hahaha...I should have thought thats what it meant. As an unmarried, single, straight bloke the DH is not something i'm gonna have hanging around. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Sue-UU - "Would you like me to put the Target of £1000 (that you have on your sig) on the list by your name/No??"

    Yes please Sue

I had a NSD yesterday and will add £5 to the pot. I'm off to the gym tonight and have just devoured my homemade sandwiches and no friday beer for me. So thats another £5 in the pot.

I have a weekend of sorting out my Ebay sales and finishing the CV to look for a new job. Watching the rugby from home instead of down the pub and use my cineworld unlimited card to watch True Grit. I may have to do a food shop, but I have £28.57 of my food allowance to spend, so i'll keep that to a minimum and put the difference in the pot. :):)

Lets see if it works out that way!
