In that case the markings at the time of the incident were quite different (in particular there was no "turn left" arrow shown in the photos taken at the time of the incident which now appears on this latest view).
Quentin,
I can't see any left turn arrow. Where?
I have posted two views. I'm talking about the latter.0 -

We all now agree that that is not what the arrow means, but many here (myself included) have been confused by it despite having time to look at it from various angles.
It certainly doesn't make you in the wrong.0 -

In the most recent view (ie the "latter" one you posted), the road markings (ie painted on the road) shown on the approach to the traffic lights immediately prior to the site of the collision have an arrow in the left lane pointing left, whereas on the photos taken at the scene by the OP it is an arrow pointing straight ahead.0 -

No - we don't "all agree what the straight arrow means" at all!
I have disagreed, but been abused for having the timerity to say so!0 -

Are you saying that the person who decided on what road markings should go on that roundabout intended that cars in the left-hand lane...
(a) must come off the roundabout at this exit
(b) must carry on round the roundabout
or (c) can come off at this exit or carry on round the roundabout?
Whether right or wrong, you certainly don't deserve abuse. Your point of view is vital, as the judge may share it.0 -
As we now know, it seems a long way off (if ever) that we will hear the judge's viewpoint!
If the "culprit" were on that roundabout for the first time in his life, he did nothing wrong by staying un the left hand lane to go straight ahead (which was what the arrow pointed at)
It seems that others who have used the roundabout many times have realised how dangerous it is and treat it with caution!0 -
Quentin,
I'm referring to Post 109. For me this displays a view around 50 - 70 yards past the traffic lights. It looks down towards the A38 from the middle lane.
This view for me shows a four lane layout on the roundabout going forward and some more straight painted arrows just after the A38 exit. there is one in Lane1 which the other driver will claim he was following.
Most of the other google maps at this site are out of date but this one looks different to me. i.e. more up to date. What interesting is to move the cursor around to change the view.Or you can move the mouse and a disc appears where you can reposition the view.
Does this clarify?0 -
Question........
Does the new straight ahead arrow mean that your not allowed to turn left? Of course it doesn't....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Not really the point.
A straight arrow certainly doesn't mean you must turn left.0 -

Yes, you can alter the view.
If you do so, and view the approach to the traffic lights, you will see the arrow pointing left (in the left hand lane) - the one which has subsequently been repainted "straight".0
