My family and I have often taken advantage of the £10 & £26 room offers. We have invariably arrived late at night and have never had a problem.
They will continue to get my business, but I will be mighty upset if this ever does happen to me.
I can understand why hotels and other companies over book where only a deposit is paid, but Travelodge always insist on full prepayment for the low price rooms so there can be no excuse for double booking.0 -

i do quite agree with u. even though i said i was neutral before, i believe the problem isnt as widespread as it seems like it i think.
i have been with travelodge a couple of times, and so far i have had pleasant time with them

I know your room isn't supposed to be available until 3.00pm, but how early can you "turn up" to sign the register and claim for it?...just curious as I am off to a travel lodge on the 30th Oct and I can sign for the room as early as 10.00 am that day...lolI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

The problem isn't so much that it happens (or not) but how they deal with it when it does happen. If they put you up in the nearest 4* hotel and gave you a wad of cash we'd all be booking in late and asking if they needed to bounce anyone.0

We have stayed there over Christmas to avoid having to stay with the inlaws. Didn't have any problems and Little Chef breakfast was extra but fine.0

I work for a very very large Telecoms / ISP (one of the biggest in Europe).
Following the BBC Watchdog program, Travelodge were immediately suspended from our Approved Vender List.
So their penny pinching customer inconveniencing policy has instantly cost them goodness knows how many rooms lost per week.Not everything that's cheap is a bargain0 -

i've also only ever had reasonable experiences with travel lodge - you know what you are going to get (or not going to get if watchdog is to be believed) - a fairly comfortable room with none of the extras.
I do think, however that if you were bumbed that you would have a good case in the small claims court, for whatever losses you had suffered as a consequence of their action. given that you have entered into a contract with them to supply a room in a given location, if they do not do that, and you are forced to stay in a different hotel (and hopefully the only reasonable alternative would be a 5* up the road!) then i think that you would have a good case that they have to reimburse you for the difference in price between the cost of the travel lodge and the cost of the hotel you stayed in.0 -
