we were watching watchdog last night and saw the one in london we have booked for 3 nights next june at £26 a night, hopefully we were get there early enough to claim our room0

i wouldn't use Travelodge
and even more so after the Watchdog feature
I rarely stay in hotels so when i do i want it to be a luxury experience (Radisson and Radisson Edwardian), but can totally see the attraction of no-frills rooms, and yes overbooking will help them keep costs down but now it is more public knowledge will people spend a bit extra to ensure the room is there, as i don't see the point of spending £15 on a room where you might need to spend extra on petrol to get to the next available travelodgeDebt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -
I must confess if I was given a duvet and told to sleep in the car - I'd be parking in reception first (they always have double automatic doors! so plenty of space) I'm sure they'd either sort the matter out or call the police - either way I'd get cheap overnight accomodation.
Still it wont stop me booking cheap rooms with TL I think they are great, I paid more for a youth hostel in Delhi than a travellodge in central london - I'm definately not complaining about TL prices (until they try and mess me around that is!)There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0 -
I have emailed them asking them to guarantee my room or refund me.
Will post their reply when (if) I get one.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
sorry everything i only posted the link because i thought it was a good offfer and i did not watch watchdog last nite (still waiting for my woolworth 32' to arrive)....
i believe every single thing that watchdog said last nite- but so far i have had pleasant times with travelodge in various locations and have been able to get a 15 n 26 pounds room with a late check in. therefore-ima stick with it for some time and im quite neutral about the whole issue.
i know watchdog reported loads of horrifying experience last nite...
anyone has a similar story to share from the past?
being a MSEers someone must have booked a 15/26 pounds room before!!
thanks

My colleague who slept in the car was at least given vouchers for two more overnights with travelodge. Credit where it is due.0

It is a good offer and I am sure the posting is of use to many people who need a hotel room and can't afford the rip-off prices that some hotels charge.
I have neverbooked a room this cheap, although i have never paid full price for one.Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -

We've stayed in many travelodges at the £26 rate as a family of four-most recently in Oxford (Peartree) in August when there was clearly a wedding party too! We have never had a problem and this thread has horrified me (I didn't see Watchdog) as the thought of not having a room with a grumpy missus and two kids doesn't bear thinking about! I am in the process of booking another travelodge for London mid December and I would be going for the Croydon £15 room if it was open in time!!
However despite never having had a problem-this thread has put doubt in my mind  and I will carry the hotel telephone number with me and ring about 3/4pm to say confirm that I will be checking in late(about 8pm) and hope we have somewhere to sleep!0 -
I have stayed in several Travellodges - never had a problem in any of them - we even stayed at Kew for £10 a night when they had that offer.
For a family of 4 its great for a 1 nighter to see the museums and coupled with Megatrain its too good not to do every now and then.
Ok they are not exactly high comfort but last week I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Southwark - £98 a night my company paid and that was three times as bad as any TL I have ever stayed in - will still book TL and this wont put me off.0 -
I have never had a problem staying in A Travel Lodge before, but we have always arrived farily early. Of course, as a result of the Watchdog programme most people will turn up earlier than usual now, so I am more likely to encounter problems in the future! :rolleyes:0
