I've had 3 pregnancies and each one was different. First time around I could tell at 3 weeks, 2nd time at just 1 week (my GP said it wasn't possible, but I started being sick on day 8, just 3 days after I ovulated, I do ovulate much earlier than average though) but then the third time it came as a surprise at 7 weeks and I had no idea until I started being sick.

I don't think I'd be able to tell nowadays though, I get almost all pregnancy symptoms just before my period, and at ovulation. My breasts are so sore today I could happily chop them off but I very much doubt that I could be pregnant with a mirena coil in, having bled less than 2 weeks ago.

Good luck for the result you want :)

I 'felt' pregnant at 6 weeks, sore boobs mainly. I tested at 7.5 weeks and it was positive, but had a period the next day (thought the worst :( ) but after a checkup at hospital our little bean was ticking away and I'm now 6 months gone and waiting to meet him/her. I had terrible morning sickness from 8.5 weeks to about 13 weeks - that would have been my main sign, as I doubt I would have tested at 8 weeks, I would have thought it was a regular period if I hadn't tested a few days prior. Now, apart from a little bump and some kicking, I barely feel pregnant!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    DS (1st) didn't have a clue
DD I knew before the test showed +ve. Had to take a second test a week after I knew I was preg to prove I actually was. Sicky feeling in the morning, sore boobs, feeling woosy at strong smells. We weren't trying either, so when OH said "you sound like you're pregnant" after complaining of feeling sick again, it all clicked into place.

Either way, all the best, however it goes.

In the week before I found out my boobs were just SORE. I mean I've never had sore boobs for that long, but I honestly put it down, to um, the person who's baby is it preference for grabbing them.. Very cringeworthy. In fact actually it might have been a week and a half thinking about it. Then a week before I found out, alcohol stopped agreeing with me. I just couldnt stomach it and I went from smoking ten cigarettes a day to barely being able to smoke 1. Now the thought of smoking makes me feel ill...which is a good thing.

I also can't face eating chicken soup...

Well the dog "told" me 6 days after conception (it was ivf) he wouldn't leave me alone, following me everywhere and spent his time with his head on my lap - 2 days later I did a test and the result is gurgling away next to me.

I can't explain how I knew I was pregnant, I just felt differently, I never keep a strict plan of when I'm due on, but I just thought I'd take one, negative on 24th December, positive on 28th December. We went out especially for the 2nd pregnancy test, but like I say, I can't explain how I felt. Sorry if no help but I do hope you get the result you want!

I knew before I took the test with each of my three. But have also been sure I was on several other occasions to be proved wrong a few days later! Pregnancy symptoms are so similar to PMS that there's really no way of being sure until period is due. The early tests are only about 50:50 if used before your period is due anyway so it's not really worth testing early. Good luck though hope you get the result you want.
  • with First Response, you can test up to 9 days early for an accurate result - so in answer to your question how early will you know, 9 days :D Get down the chemist, pronto!
