Looks like the bulls got it right again....:D
It is amazing how the bulls can spin things.
"Yes house prices are falling every month but houses are still in this long term bull market."
Looks like the bulls will be proved wrong yet again.0 -
With all these people comparing 2005 to now I thought I do the same where I am and was quite surprised to see dec2005 £258k now £300k.0

My Fiancee doesn't mind so much, much like I don't mind her living with her parents.
You guys do confuse me at times, you say I should have moved out but I couldn't as I was priced out, so I should have rented, yet I would have just paid my landlords mortgage to which I would have wasted money.
Reminder me of the age of the average FTB these days and then look at my user name.
Go on, admit that financially I have made the best choice.

At all.
In the slightest.
Not even one iota.
Seriously…
Bull tactic number 2... he’s pointed out a part of the country which is back to 2005 levels... quick character assignation!
I will say this again, for those not in the know, my other half and I have combined debts in the idea of cutting payment times and interest paid, as a couple this has saved thousands. Now at the starting point my level of debt was higher than hers but also my income is higher but by my own admission the sums do swing in my favour as individuals. But as also mentioned due to the higher income on my side the deposit will be funded by me more than her as will the rest of our lives.
My point is as much as you like to call this parasitic behaviour the actual sums show that financially she has made a good investment as the money she has lost in the short term will be paid back several times over.
With that we are both adults who have made our own decisions, I have not forced her to do anything but the decisions we have made have benefitted us as a couple massively we are not keeping scores we are just trying to get the best out of life together.
I fail to see how this is parasitic?
I am bored of making the same post and I should keep this somewhere as a standard answer as it does seem to be a favourite of yours.
But please do explain to me how what I have put above is more parasitic than a BTL landlord, seriously I am missing the point. A few sums will be fine and I will anwer any questions on my part for the comparison if needed.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

You didn't spend your money on an English course did you? You must be due a refund. Unless you really did want us to share a secret meeting?
Are you coming on to me Percy?

Dont need any sums Percy, thanks for the offer though. I'm worried you'll end up showing me why I should be paying off your debt too.0 -
Regardless of his debt situation which I think is a little unfair, being "priced out" where the average house is under 100k is a bit of an exaggeration. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

This would suggest a different average.0 -
I think a major point that some the bears seem to miss or worse even flag it up as a silly thing for bulls to say, is that most do not have to sell when prices (like now) have fallen, investors can wait for a better time and homeowners will be buying back cheaply anyway.
True I would sell when interest rates go back (say in 2 years?) but will not because the market wil not be at the best time to sell. But I will simply wait, at the moment my best guess (and that's all it is) is about 8-12 years (I don't want to sell at the very top because that raises the possibilty of missing the top and being stuck in the market for another 12-15 years), so I reckon about 10 years will see a market when prices have exceeded 2007 NOMINAL levels (but probably below 2007 levels in real terms, that'll still do me nicely).
My guess of the years ahead:
Next year - 3-5% falls
Following 2 years - stagnation
Following year - 3-5% increases
Following years - steady increasesChuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Yeah I posed an example about that which got ignored.
If I wanted to move, I'd stick my place up at the price I need to be able to complete that move, if I listed it lower, then I wouldn't be able move.
So I'd list it, and hope someone buys it, if they don't, no bother, I'll just keep saving.
What doesn't happen is I see the indexes go down, and think "OH NO QUICK SELL MY HOUSE!"This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Nope not english, I really should check what the auto spell checker is doing I will admit.
Ok I can put this very simply, if me and my other half where keeping tabs the short of it would be. I have borrowed money off her to save interest to which all money will be repaid by the end of 2011 (approx). Yes there is alsorts of juggling cards between us to which the actual sums are very long but the above summary works.
So in short yes she has paid some of my debts and in the future I will pay more towards the house, are either of us counting... no... are we happy... yes.
I do fail to see how my personally finances have any effect on the debate in hand.Regardless of his debt situation which I think is a little unfair, being "priced out" where the average house is under 100k is a bit of an exaggeration.
I will add there is a direct correlation between house prices and wages in areas. I will admit that in my current situation with a decent deposit I could probably buy on my own due to my hard work to get my salary up. But I was priced out until recently due to much lower wages and higher house prices.
Strangely enough my other half was on a similar path up the wages scale in a different career to which both of us where priced out. As it is both our salaries came good in 2008 but we both had a level of debt due to poor wages for many years before (yes I had more Mr Bravo). So really we have only ever been able to afford since 2008 to which debts have held us back (yes our own faults, no blame elsewhere). So we are now in the process of clearing the last of the debts and saving a deposit.
The peak in Oldham was July 2008 £109,973 compared to October 2010 of £91,937.
So as much as paying debts has delayed us it seems to be a blessing right now as we have saved £18,036 on a house (yes ok its not that simple). And with that most of our debts weren’t phantom debts so we have to reasonable new cars, a nice TV, 2 good pc’s etc.
Just to add, since we got all debts onto 0% deals we have been saving up and earning a bit of interest, now we asked the Halifax what they would let us borrow on a mortgage with what debt we had outstanding as at 2 months ago and they said £128k, as it is we are going to stick to the plan and use the saving to pay the remaining debt and save a bit longer to which we asked what would we get in that situation and they said £140k but of course can’t say how things will be in the future.
As I say if I can £140k available and the average is £91,937 I think we are doing rather well, in short the years of being priced out have paid off and the plan is coming together just fine.
Yes a do agree that prices aren't going to crash as you say people just won't sell, but right now there seems to be more than enough willing to drop prices, but even if they have just hit rock bottom I am laughing really.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I'm sure the sums are very long and quite complicated. A bit of bafflement can work in your favour though eh? Nice work.So in short yes she has paid some of my debts and in the future I will pay more towards the house, are either of us counting... no... are we happy... yes.
I think you meant to say "luckily, I'm the only one counting, my other half hasn't got a clue, thank God :j"
Sweet.
I see the game you're playing and it seems like it's going beautifully.0
